Maybe someone knows the answer to this question, but out of curiousity,
fixing the Blue Streak to run again, has anyone put a new value to it?

PRICELESS

sorry, not informative, just couldn't resist
Good one, I got to admit.  I would have said that myself, just not that smart.

... has anyone put a new value to it?  ...

....the current used-coaster market would suggest it's less than $9,500....

I have to assume that you are putting that price solely on the
cars alone.  If someone were to buy the whole ride to relocate
it, would they take the wood framework also?  I am not trying
to challenge your knowledge, because you have proved to all
of us that you are extremely intelligent on alot of different
matters, but is that the amount they would insure it for?

After going thru a sickening auction where my expensive kitchen
appliances went for pennies, I know that the age didn't matter
on my stuff, but this is a one-of-a-kind coaster, (or 2), but that
figure doesn't compute to me when we had to raise $100,000 to
             get it going again?????????????????

$9500 and you need to disassemble, transport, build the foundations and reassemble separately and then I would expect the "new" total to be well over $1M.

Lenny told us what it would cost to move it, I can't recall but it seems to me is was several hundred thousand dollars....very little of it could be re-used...I think he told us about someone (maybe them?) trying to move one, and reuse it, by numbering all the pieces, etc, and it just wasn't worth it....

The insurance would be for liability, in case of an accident, etc, not based on any perceived value of the structure, right? I doubt the Park could afford replacement insurance, kind  of like for the ballroom.

….as  reported in the trades & newsprint, after Geauga closed, the Big Dipper, often noted as the 7th oldest operating roller coaster in the US (the Blue Streak isn’t  in the top 25 oldest :-\ ), was sold at auction in 2008 to an undisclosed buyer for the reported sum of -

….$5,000.00 [though, other sources report “After the auction, (another) price and terms were agreed to and the coaster was sold… the final sale price was more than $5,000 but [the source] declined to name that price.”]….

….,the market value of the  Big Dipper in 2008 was a reported aprx -

….$5,000.00.…

….then, the current owner endeavored to market the Big Dipper  last December for -

….$165,000.00.…

….however, there was absolutely no interest….

…..then, as reported, current owner again endeavored to market the entire Big Dipper  last Spring for the reduced price of $95,000 last April.…

….again there was absolutely no interest….

…..the current owner then endeavored to, as clearly illustrated in the eBay listing,  market the entire Big Dipper once  again last week with an opening bid of $9,500.00.….

….there was absolutely no interest on the world wide eBay market ….

….as it is currently in a non-operational/non-maintained status, and looking to secure his initial ‘investment’ I suspect the current owner likely has  it insured for-

….his aprx $5,000+ purchase price to cover his initial 'investment'....

….I think a prudent amusement park owner/rider operator would have their current operating anchor-feature attraction insured for current replacement value….

….if-

….as HM postulates, they, in fact, had the capital to due so….

....FTR, Gore has absolutely no idea what the price of the Big Dipper cars might bring; but Gore suspects it would be well below below current scrap prices. The current anonymous owner has stated he's not parting it out, it's all or nothing....

Although it is probably perceived as none of our business, it would be nice
to know how many riders the Blue Streak provided much thrill to.  Between
seeing pictures of the new Ballroom at the Hotel, and the Blue Streak back
up again, I think a big thumbs-up to everyone involved that achieved these goals.

ACE was at one time interested in buying the Big Dipper but negotiations fell through. They wanted to preserve the coaster. It may be interesting to see if they still want to do this.

This year they are "paprika" with the logo. A really sharp color in the orange family, and the logo looks great on them!

I bought one from Ardids this past Friday along with a dozen roses for my wifes birthday. She liked them alot.

The kids got to ride the Bluestreak this past weekend, they had a blast.  In all it was a great extended weekend.

Very nice Weekend warrior!! Glad to hear she liked the sweatshirt! Not sure how many they have sold to this point but I know they are moving rather well. Actually been a little too warm to even think about a sweatshirt but that is about to change.

Since she liked it so well, you could always bring her over to Lake Shore Park, in Ashtabula, this weekend to take a walk through our Crafts in the Park. About 80 vendors this year--no flea market junk either--just really nice crafts and super nice vendors!!

QUAP, I don't know what you mean about my trainbrick being featured!  I didn't see any Post about it.  Maybe I need a VISION exam!   ;D   I still can't get a reply quote to come up when I try to answer a post.  A screen comes up saying "an error has occured"!   ???

I forgot to post the link!

http://themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=56701&sid=0c532b1989e11bee73c777d9609cfafc&start=10

Thank you for posting this link with such beautiful pictures.  I don't know why people are disappointed, as they all have to know the obstacles that
we have gone through.  That was the first time I saw the picture of the
burned bathrooms at the Kiddieland area, on a day that the park was not
even open.

Considering that the Dreamland fire was not that long ago, I think that
seeing these pictures proves that it is coming back strong.  Once the
Midway gets renovated, the people that were disappointed do not realize
that we have to walk before we can run, and they sure as heck beat the
clock on the Blue Streak open by Labor Day.  That is a real accomplishment, and proves that you can't say NEVER about CLP.
