A friend of mine knows the family well.  The victim's sister went down to Virginia right after her sister disappeared, she is still there. So afraid to come home thinking that she is giving up.  I can only imagine the pain and anguish.
Pest, thinking of you.  Sending good vibes your way.

~~~BIG NEWS~~~
Big News ~ Big News ~ Big News ~ Big News
I've been holding on to this news for a while.
As of today.... Regina Martin-Allman of Hog Heaven Rescue Farm is a sworn humane officer for the  PA State Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (the PSPCA) and will be sworn in to action in over 20 western PA counties, eventually including Crawford County.
This news is important because.......
If you call in an animal abuse complaint to the Crawford County Humane Society and get no immediate action, which has happened*... as was reported by the Meadville Tribune, ...and we all know.... you can now call the hotline at the PSPCA at 1-866-601-SPCA and they will send ...REGINA!
OR you can call in the PSPCA hotline, and they will make the call to the CCHS!
The events, lack of response,  and years of other occurrences at the CCHS are well known to Regina, and in fact she had handled the rescue of the 2nd German Shepherd in my story, http://www.spottydawg.com/mystory.html  plus the rescue of the dogs in the trailer incident which SHINY did not respond to. (same link as above) and so much more. Dogs, cats, horses, pigs, goats, cows... you name it. she's rescued them.
She is the one who took the photos of the brown horse in "my story", which the neighbors had been calling for three months to get help for. (Read the story or view the photo here:  http://spottydawg.com/NewFiles/6x4b.jpg )
The Meadville Tribune reported the the 20 animals that were abandoned in a house in April of 2008 had to wait for months* while neighbors called and called for help from the CCHS.*
Some (an unreported total)  had to be euthanized, (gassed at Shiny's place) because they were beyond saving by the time SHINY showed up.
No more.
This news is wonderful! Even if SHINY refuses to assign his
humane officer(s) out on calls and subjects Regina to handle all of the Crawford County reports, it will all be documented at the State level, and backed by the PA State SPCA and all of the PSPCA humane officers called upon to respond to each case.
The times... ~they are a`changing!
Regina, and husband, David, will still be operating Hog Heaven, http://www.hogheavenrescue.org and will still be contributing to the county CART (Crawford Animal Response Team) and more.
What Regina has achieved is a higher level of animal protection by someone who knows the score, lives the life, is strong and compassionate and knows the laws. Regina was a Pittsburgh Police Officer prior to retirement, and is credited as being the first female motorcycle officer... (not sure if that is national or state)... and Regina has as much grit as any of the best out there.
Please take a moment to congratulate Regina on this achievement.
With Pennsylvania State Police as back-up and a warrant in hand, Humane Society officers from Crawford County seized nine cats, three rabbits, four adult dogs and three puppies from a home in Summit Township Wednesday.
"We have no idea where the owner of the home is," said Brent Rusek of the Humane Society. "But if they are found guilty of basic neglect of animals, they will face a $750 fine and 30 days in jail for each count, or one per animal."
The owners of the home have not been identified.
According to Ruthie Wallace, John Gaunt and Joseph Williams, who are neighbors of the home at 12896 Gordon Road, the seizure of the animals has been a long time coming.
Neighbors said that it's been months since anyone has resided in the home, yet they continued to keep the animals locked inside.
"We only saw the woman stop by for a few minutes on Sundays," Wallace said of someone who had made visits apparently to feed and water the animals. "Then, after a while, it wasn't even once a week."
The neighbors became so disgusted by the sounds coming from across the road that they decided to take action.
"We could hear the dogs and puppies crying like babies over there because they were so hungry," Wallace said. "So we found an open window and dropped a few bowls inside, and so we've been feeding them."
It wasn't just the fact that the animals weren't being fed; Williams said the conditions inside were just as big of a concern.
"The inside of the house - the smell - it was overwhelming!" according to Williams. "And when we first began to feed them, they were as thin as sheets of paper and went after the food as if they hadn't eaten in six years."
Wallace said she's called the Humane Society numerous times since last fall.
"It's taken multiple complaints since November to have the poor things removed," Wallace said. "I just pray to God that (the pets' owners) will never get those animals back!"
"One time the lady who delivers the mail left me a note that said, 'Ruthie, they're dying inside the house. Can you do something?,' " Wallace said. "I told the other neighbors that they should call too, but I don't know if any of them ever did."
Wallace said she didn't want to "get anyone in trouble," but she was becoming more and more concerned for the animals as time went on.
"Those poor little things were so helpless inside." she said. "We couldn't just sit by and do nothing."
