Just the headline for this alone is a mind bender. I may have actually killed a couple of brain cells thinking about it too long.

I might add this particularly newsworthy article really makes me wonder what people are thinking when they do the things they do.

Older sis is here from TX.  We are heading out Wednesday morning to out to see both brothers, (staying with one) gonna stop at gram's farm along the way for lunch and visit, Wilbur's Chocolate factory near Lancaster....excellent chocolate - I am very excited about this......hang in Princeton for a day and spend a day in NYC.  Taking my dad and my youngest.  Should be a fun little trip.   Oh, and since AF Who is just 20 minutes from my brothers, she is coming out to have dinner with us Thursday!

Toyota is in direct competition with the U.S. Government and is paying the price. Won't be surprised to see Ford take a hit - though Ford does have to deal with the UAW.

The Toyota thing.....my daughter drives a 2009 Corolla.  Her car was on both recall lists.  She was treated like gold at the dealership and they got her in and out - and well - shit happens.  What can I say....I hope her vehicle is safe.

I bought a boatload of GM stock when it was at some-cents per share.  It's at 12 bucks now.

I bought Ford, not a boatload,
at $2, now $12 and change.
Better luck on the stock than the Lotto!

With kids it really tough to avoind the fast food thing. I mkeep trying to steer them towards 5 guys since their ingredients are minimally processed. Problem is... the only meat my daughter eats is chicken McNuggets and occasional deli turkey. Now how do I break this to a 5 year old. Maybe I should just keep my mouth shut.

Have fun fun in the apple CLW. Have a nice big pastrami sandwich for me.

I have never in my life owned a Toyota so I can't say anything about them from personal experience. I never bought one because the layout of the interior just doesn't "work" for me. I like Ford trucks and Honda cars as they just seem to work for me in every sense.

Now, about the recall thing. I believe every auto manufacturer has its dirty little secrets they don't want anybody to know about. Toyota got busted on one and a lot more came bubbling to the surface. There now seems to be a witch hunt of sorts going on with Toyota being the suspect witch. So at the moment Toyota is getting rocks tied to it and the villagers are preparing to throw it into the river. Weather or not the Toyota floats or sinks during this trial by ordeal is irrelevant at this point. An example needs to made and the opportunity arose for Toyota as the example.

The news media won't let this go because they are having too much fun with it. It's a feeding frenzy much like the Audi issue of the years gone by that the NTSB finally called "pedal misapplication." This almost sank Audi entirely. I can buy the unintended acceleration, but what I cannot buy is the claims that people were standing on the brakes and the car kept going. Go try it yourself. Any car with brakes that cannot stop an engine at full race are seriously faulty.

So IMO some of the points being made about the parts and the mats are valid, however many of the other claims being made are nothing more than a vessel of fertilizer.
