....we rolled out of Manhattan Monday A.M. and BIG RED had to be checked prior to entering the Battery Tunnel over to Brooklyn....


....we biked all over the city Saturday before the incident and the police presence was notable everywhere; tons of POLICE AUXILIARY -  biking down Broadway in Times Square aprx 2:30 P.M.-

It must be one calm animal to be working in that environment.  Constant noise....constant sudden noise.   Shoot, I had a horse once who literally did a backflip because someone next to him opened an umbrella.  Had his saddle on and everything.

....ya he was a trooper; folks were petting him left and right and he was oblivious to it all....

....I'm thinking he reacted to the camera's focus-detection light just before the camera takes the pic....

.....came out to Martha's Vineyard today on the ferry-

..... not a lick of security/inspection anywhere and the only cops were speed traps here on the island ....

any trouble getting a spot on the ferry? I know for summer u have to make a reservation a year in advance.

....we knew it was off season and mid-week, but as the original plan was to just take the bikes over and ride about- we didn't even consider reservations....

....how ever as we pulled into the terminal at Wood's Hole- ya- the TITANIC Wood's Hole of Titanic/Ballard  renown-

....the queuing lot was just about empty, and the ferry waiting....

....so we we quickly adjusted, drove right up, bought a ticket, and rolled right on a very lightly-loaded ferry with most of the vehicles being lumber and garbage semis ....

....three different ferry rides Monday getting over to New London, Connecticut after driving out to the eastern frontier/wilderness of Long Island-

.... driving  Big Red right on each ferry w/o waiting or reservations; but again mid-week/off-season 


....in contrast, last Sunday had to wait over an hour in a couple of blocks-long  line of full street of nothing but bicyclers for the Staten Island ferry to get back to Manhattan; though- 33,000 bikes will tend to do that on the last leg/bottleneck of a bicycle tour ....

....on the other hand, off season out on the  Vineyard this morning yielded a delightfully quiet ride out to East Beach-

.....which we had to ourselves in quiet solitude-

....crossing the infamous presidency-killing bridge en-route-


....should have thrown this in the other night- a historical vacated/empty Times Square-
