I don't have an issue with what he pays in taxes. He's within the law though I'm sure a lot of people don't see it as such. Is it fair? That's up for debate. Does he pay more taxes than I do? By a mile and more.

What's not fair is the volume of questions that got shot to Romney and Gingrich in last nights debate. They seemed to get about 70-80% of the questions. That... is not fair.

Lifetime is absolutely right on this one. While there might be some shenanigans involving offshore corporations based in a post office box in the caymen islands, otherwise it appears what he did with his taxes is perfectly legal. Same thing with GE getting enough tax credits to pay no taxes. Blame the law, not the taxpayer.

it's just as legal as you or i deducting mortgage interest or donations to our favorite charity.

The people writing the tax laws are among those who benefit most from them, so don't expect much to change.

I'm a Pens fan until the day I die. I'm certainly not a Boston Bruins fan, but I now at least respect their goalie Tim Thomas a lot!. Why? Click here and find out.

I'm diggin' Mr. Thomas' point of view.

And as an aside - seems the media has settled on the head to head showdown already between Romney and Gingrich.

When Obama brought up the issue earlier in the year all the candidates called it "class warfare". Now they are making the same argument. It truly is bizzarro.

Income taxes on wages have a top rate of 35%.

Taxes on investment income (capital gains) have a top rate of 15%. Since Romney is not employed and thus receives no wages, all his taxable income is from investments, stocks, bonds etc.

There have been those lately who as part of tax reform want to make the capital gains tax in the U.S. "0"

For comparison Canada is at 50%, Germany 28%.

Most homeowners probably know that they have a capital gains tax exemption of $250,000 for single/divorced, and $500,000 for married couples.
The capital gain is the profit between purchase price , and selling price. You can defer the final reckoning until your last house. So if you have owned 10 houses over the years, you can add up the total profit from all those houses, and have your estate take the exemption after you croak. Death and taxes!!

I'm surprised their seems to be this confusion

Honestly the SuperPAC's are out of control on both sides. Obama is raising money like crazy and will have an immense war chest when the official battle for the POTUS begins. Soros is going to be tough to beat.

The Romney campaign was hot and heavy here in Florida. Our phone rang at least 15 times per day in the past few weeks However thanks to the magic of caller ID none of the calls were answered. It's over here now. I cast my vote, did my part and all that good stuff. Now they will move to Maine and Nevada next. I suppose Nevada will be the more important of the two states. But what do I know, I'm no political strategist.

Ok... Besides needing more duct tape to wrap my head, being off subject for a sec.. room wants me to sign in everyday... so now...

Back in 2004 or so.. the Democrats in the 3rd Dist of PA... ran a real piece of work for the Congressional seat of Phil English. This bird brain was "Dr." Steven Porter... He did it I believe twice. Now... Con. Kelly has a POS named Mel Marin running on the Dem ticket... I hold Missa as a better choice, even if she got monetary backing from Kathy Dalkemper... what ever that is about and another guy from the 3rd...but MARIN???

Porter and Marin are Ass Clowns at best.. and DEM??? Someone needs to clean the gene pool or at least see if these two are related  :o .

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good political confrontation using the real issues but... Marin ain't the guy. I do hope the Dem. Party isn't giving this guy any change...He is already on the "idiot" list here in Shango Valley.. stOOOOpid lawsuits to name one thing. ( I believe Porter lost his defamation lawsuit against Biros as well)

God help us...  :-\

Kelly has a POS named Mel Marin running on the Dem ticket...

"The 58-year-old Erie man in 2010 challenged Kathy Dahlkemper, a Democrat  who was seeking re-election. He raised $1,000 and earned 27 percent of  the vote in that race."

The scary thing is that if he raises only $3,000 more this time, statistically he could win, with 108% of the vote.

So - what is happening with vote counts?

cable networks are devoting hours of edge-of-your-seat coverage as mit and ricky are neck and neck -- as little as 75 votes apart -- in primaries like colorado, where the total vote count is less than 20,000. Which around here is the turnout of a county commissioners race.

Meanwhile, Sen. Frothymix apparently has handily won the Missouri primary which doesn't happen to mean a damn thing or a single delegate, since that state soon will be holding caucuses that actually serve the function of choosing nominees. WTF?

And Newtie's supporters were unable to get their fat asses and clipboards around to the couple thousand doorsteps it took to get registered for any of tuesday's events, but he is expected to declare victory anyway.

And then there's ron paul, who came in 2nd in one contest and performed admirably in others. But, like an exhibition-only sport at the Olympics, nothing he does or accomplishes counts.

In the end, it all suggests the Obamas needn't pick up a change-of-address kit anytime soon.
