Hi all,

Son's car is out of service for a while so I gave him a lift to Cochranton this AM. Seemed a waste to go clear home and go back to get him at three, so I hung out in Meadville today. I drove over to the Market House and the Kepler Hotel. Went to Diamond Park and nosed around. I am unfamiliar with the town and it was all very nice.

I went to Huidekoper Park and took out the detector. It was a beautiful day and it is a nice little park. I ended up digging 36 pennies (my machine loves pennies) and some other modern change. I also filled the botttom of a trash barrel with metal junk (an amazing amount of shell casings  ??? ).

Of the 36 pennies, 6 were wheaties and one was a 1906 (I think, still soaking) Indian Head cent. I can live with that.

I need a life, don't I?

Sounds like fairly productive trip Mr R.  A 1906 penny should be worth a couple of bucks as long as the letters are still all there. At least it's all copper.  If you want to drive a few miles further north Woodcock park may be a good place to find stuff too. I think that's technically Saegertown there. It's a new park though and probably would not have as much in the like of vintage goodies that we all know you like.

Is waterworks park still accessible - does anybody know? I think it's been long shut down, but it's old!

Imagine the loose change floating around in the fairground dirt!  May not find anything old and valuable but I'd bet after a few hours you'd have enough to get yourself a good lunch at least!

NP, please spill the beans on this Water Works Park. All I found was a vintage postcard on the net.  ;D

Puffin and CLW, The fairgrounds would be a great place, whereabouts is it? I love just about anything old, and I use the modern change I find to buy antique bottles, postcards, or coins that do have some future value. First two years I was well over $150 in modern coins, bought some nice stuff with it too... ;)

Thanks for the tips!

For the fairgrounds go to maps.google.com and plug the following into the search bar: 41.657391,-80.12141
