Lifelong Jackson fan wins tickets, can’t go
« on: July 07, 2009, 01:51:12 PM »

Wow......where to start?

First off I'm no Jackson fan, is this really news worthy?

Now, I like to think that I'm not a dumb person. Maybe someone can help out.....

Michael Jackson DOES have a huge fan base of people that love him and his music. So you go online for tickets, knowing FULL WELL you can't make it.

With only 8,750 people able to go.........you pretty much screwed someone who COULD have maybe made it?

Wow...........well done...........real nice.

Morbid,
I couldn't agree with you more. It does seem to be a self-centered thoughtless act that indeed resulted in a true fan (As like you, I am not) not having the opportunity to attend. This person should be chastised by the Herald and others, not glamorized.

I wonder if any of the tickets made eBay?  I personally find the whole thing rather silly but it is what it is. I saw on the news that Kobe Bryant was going to perform, what's he going to do, shoot free throws? I dunno, I lived in LA for years and never understood the hoopla some things got. It was interesting to watch it unfold though.

The way I understand it, even if you have the REAL DEAL TICKET and try to sell it. You'll be in a ton of legal trouble.

I suppose Kobe Bryant would be better than Shaq shooting however.

Well, one is thing for sure. A lot of regular programing is getting pre-empted  today.

I rarely get to view TV at this time so that is no skin off of my nose. I would bet that the soap opera crowd may be in an uproar though.....well, maybe not given the similarities.

Wow, yeah just looked.

Guess I'll be doing some serious online PS3 gaming.

I loved watching TV land on Nick at Nite. A good Beverly Hillbillies or Gilligan's Island injected humor into my evening and had the added benefit of not being detrimental to my growing children's vocabulary as some of the newer shows would (Although the one episode with Jethro wanting to "smoke some crawdads" which REALLY excited the hippies in the show may have crossed the line.....just kidding)

I get Sponge Bob and iCarly a lot with side dish of this-and-that tossed in for variety. Oddly enough I like "Growing up Creepie" on Discovery.

Anyhow, back to MJ... He's with Elvis now.

My daughter (5) was drawing quietly before church last week. She finished with little hoopla and said to me 'Daddy, look what I drew.'

I looked at intently, noticed Spongebob (a really good drawing by the way) and asked her 'What's your picture of?'

She proceeded to tell me that it was Spongebob (obviously) and, connected to his head with little balloons (just like in the comics), was

SPONGEBOB'S THOUGHT!

She had drawn Spongebob thinking about himself riding a horse. Perfect little Spongebob, nice ballon encircling the 'thought', and a pretty good representation of Spongebob riding a horse.

hmmm, my daughter has mentioned that she wants a horse ...  :what:  smart kid...

NP: I'm still stuck with Playhouse Disney, Handy Manny, Imagination Movers, Martha Speaks and this idiot called OSO.

At least my son is into Clone Wars and Star Wars lately. I'm also getting a tad tired of Little Mermaid. Although I am getting pretty good at drawing her on a doodle pro.

I know, for most of you that went right over your head.

Some of y'all get it though.

*back on topic*

I agree totally about the Jackson fan that couldn't make it. Stupid way to give tickets out though. But like everything else about his life, it comes down to a superficial version of the real thing, all glam & no substance.

I like some of his music but none of the baggage associated with the man/boy.

Plus I'm just genuinely pissed off at him about the Beatles catalog that he stole.

Paul McCartney is a class act.

Sponge Bob is awesome! My older boys still watch it at times. They ask me if I would be friends with Squidward and I say...Yeah, but Mr Crabs would be my real brohan.

p.s. Sounds like you have a blooming cartoonist in your house!
