Precision Pest - HELP!!!

(1/2) > >>

Kimmi:
How can I get rid of yellow jackets without using fire.  Fire scares me a little.

Jayhawk:
depends on where they are. If it's a nest in the ground or a gray, paper nest in a bush or overhang, buy a can of wasp and hornet spray (it can shoot several feet), wait till they're all home at night, and douse their house. Sometimes takes a 2nd spraying the next day.

When spraying, have an escape route to run in and slam an open door just in case. I like to keep a nearby charged hose a hose set on Shower or Flat Spray nearby to spray a wall of water/rain at them as you make your escape in the unlikely event that they attack.

if it's a hole-in-the-ground nest, for real overkill you can stick a hose down there a few days later, then plug the opening with dirt. That should get the point across to them.

Kimmi:
Thank you!! You are the first person that did not suggest fire!!  I'm gonna give it a whirl!!

Kimmi:
I used two cans of liquid death on them and I think they are gone.  I made a call to a local exterminator just in case.  They said that they would charge me $75 - 80 dollars and that most places charge $125.  Let's see - buy two of the $7 cans of liquid death and do it myself, or pay someone $75 to do it for me.  I'm broke!  I'll do it myself!

Jayhawk:
Good to hear you got inexpensive but satisfactory results.

if it's a ground nest, keep an eye on it just in case some were hiding or out of town on vacation and it requires a 2nd treatment. If it's a paper nest, the liquid pretty much dissolves it; anyone who wasn't home is already elsewhere in a little temporary FEMA nest and probably won't be counted in your neighborhood in the next bug census.
