Hi folks,
 
I had several personae over at the Herald Impugn-ity Forums ("proudsharonite" being the most prominent) and finally got around to joining up here.  So far I'm liking the vibe...it looks like an area where productive discussions can take place without the trolls and (to quote Spiro Agnew) nattering nabobs of negativism...we'll see how long that holds out.  ;)

Haha, it's a fun phrase.  Spiro Agnew made it famous, but William Safire apparently coined it.

Mr. Ripley took the words out of my mouth when he wrote "I always enjoyed your posts and perspective" (usually quite the opposite of a nabob of negativism), and you beat me to it in being the first to ID safire as the agnew speechwriter who coined the well-known phrase.
