UPDATE: Driver jailed after high-speed chase-Sharon Herald
« on: July 28, 2009, 01:51:25 PM »
I am almost sure this was the same person in a white truck driving up the back alley street near my house when my family and I were in the yard on both Saturday and Sunday nights. This was likely right before he led the police on the merry chase.
Whenever we see people walking or driving up that particular street we are always suspicious, since if you don't live in our rather isolated section of Sharon, one of the prime reasons to traverse that street is to elude the police by avoiding the main street (East State) that the street/alley parallels for a short distance. It seems our suspicions were again warranted as they have been in the past.

It continues to amaze me how many dirtbags there are roaming our fine city who seem to elude capture or are quickly released into the wild again by our Mercer County court system.  >:(

They have a criminal catch-and-release program in Mercer County?

LOL  Oh yes indeed! A daily perusal of the Herald will demonstrate this county's fine tradition of catch and release. If perhaps we elected vertebrates to our judgeships it would not be so, but, alas, we do not and therefore suffer the consequences of such.

They don't want to hold them in lockup because they have to feed them.

That's the way the Meadville City Police used to do when the Railroad cop would catch the bums riding the trains. He'd take the bums uptown to the police and right around dusk there comes the city police dumping them off along Clark road so they could jump a train after dark and leave town. No bums riding thru Meadville now. ;)

Known this man for many years (since he was a young teenage boy), he is my late husbands nephew...

Let's just say, two cliches` come to mind:

"A leapard never changes his spots!"

"The apple doesn't fall far from the tree!"

And people wonder why I chose not to raise my children around this bunch - go figure!!!

Hope the judges finally realize that he's a flight risk and hold him without bond.

The Sharon police are VERY quick in their response if I need them. They are a good bunch. I do have security cameras in numerous locations but they are set to view my property and only get a peripheral view of local streets. I do not think my observing "suspicious" characters using the back street as a thoroughfare would be admissible in court to give the police just cause to detain them (remember reading the story of the State Troop pulling over the "suspicious person" reported in the blue car over in Mercer and having the local judge throw the case out even though it was an actual home burglar).

BTW I have significantly cleaned up this section of Sharon (disassembled the local drug house, demolished 3 other eyesores, etc) so feel free to move into this locale! My neighbor's house is for sale and it is a historic house if you are so inclined.

Ya got that right.

A friend and i had to call 911 recently in the middle of the night when something didn't look quite right at a nearby house. Sharon's Five-Oh was there with FOUR cruisers and spotlights within about 5 minutes to make sure everything was OK (which it was).

I was impressed by the response. I just hope the homeowner, roused from slumber by cops in the night, didn't think we overreacted.

I am ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN that your neighbor did not think you and your friend overreacted and I am CERTAIN that he/she/they were MOST appreciative of you looking out for them and the neighborhood! ;D ;) ;D
