Mrs.TiFeMb cooks extra, freezes whole dinners in tupperware. That's all I eat while away from home.
I also sleep on a floor instead of an apt.
We only buy coke & powerade when it is on sale, load up until the next sale.
Our grocery store runs 'bogo' sales every week so we wait for those.
Check out my hairstyle - Wahl special
I'm on the neighbors unsecured wifi network as I type.
free coffee at work
free coffee at Publix (grocery store)
work 3 jobs, 2 at gyms so I don't pay a membership.
take showers at all 3 job and use their soap

that's enough for now, getting sleepy...

Buy in bulk. (Biggie)
Meat is considered a garnish at our house - not the bulk of the meal. (Saves a bunch right there.)
Quit subscribing to useless nespapers.
I get a haircut once a year. (Just cuz I think it's funny.)
Thrift Shop for clothes.
Converted to wood heat. (Gosh - I wonder how Cap and Trade will end up screwin' me with that?)
Bike instead of drive to work.
Make clothes for our little girl. (She's home-schooled so the "freak" factor for wearin' homemeade stuff isn't an issue.)
Make presents for Birthdays and Holidays.
Mow the lawn with a non-powered push mower.

Buy one get free deals at the grocery store.
Most food items are  bought on sale.
DIY haircuts. Wahl #1 all the way around.
Generic pop/soda (hey it's the only way to get black cherry!) unless there's an insane sale on brand name stuff.
Bake my own bread occasionally though there's only 3 days to eat it.
Generic products when they work as good as name brands (many do)
I've never really made a list off all the stuff...

Wahl #1 all the way around.

My 6 year old son wants to use 'The 1'. His mother WILL NOT even negotiate. Daddy uses 3, that's as far as she will go.

Our faith believes that a woman's hair is her glory (long story, I can 'splain' offline if ya like) so nobody in our house get's a store bought haircut except Mrs.TiFeMb. And I am not going to be the one to eliminate the quarterly hair coloring, I like living thank you.

NP: Mrs.TiFeMb went to cut my hair once and FORGOT TO PUT ANY GUARD ON!!!! Swiped me right down the middle. We used the #1 to clean up the carnage but I looked stupid for about a month.

Worst part of that story: A couple of years later SHE DOES IT TO MY SON!!!! He had about a 6 inch pile of curls, she got distracted & went RIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE!!!   He looked in the mirror & cried.  :'(   It took him months before he would even look at the clippers without running. We HAD to use the #1 to clean up that mess.

I have pictures for blackmail... :eyebrow:

was that less curmudg-ish?  ;)

Well with me being a single guy living  by myself the only pennies that I am pinching is on fuel where I used to make a 2x a week trip to Wally World and or K-mart and unnecessary trips here and there. I have cut way back. $25 in fuel now last me all week in my truck. As for cutting back on food? No can do.  I love food  :drooling: .

We installed a wood stove last year for heat. We never turned the furnace on once all winter, and saved a bundle in propane costs.

Use Dawn dishwashing detergent instead of laundry soaps on everyday clothes and jeans. I was shopping for Tide one day and was amazed to see the price was up to $13! A tablespoon of Dawn gets a whole load clean, and then use some fabric softener in the rinse cycle for that soft, fresh smell.

OR... put some fabric softener in a spray bottle, and squirt a clean washcloth a few times with it. Add that to the dryer instead of a dryer sheet. A bottle of fabric softener will stretch out for a loooong time that way.

Use Oxyclean (laundry stain remover in the spray bottle) for just about anything. It works great for removing grease buildup in the kitchen, or stains on carpets, (and your clothes), is great in the shower for hard water buildup or soap buildup, and saves having to buy many other bottles of cleaner.

White vinegar is another great cleaner, and cheap.
So is a bit of bleach.

Viva paper towels work great on some Swiffers (sweepers...not the "Wet Jet")  so you don't have to keep purchasing their pads.

Now if I could figure out how to refill those wet Swiffer bottles.... I dislike the smell of their products, and they leave a film on the floor.

When I was in the hospital recently the housekeepers were using an "industrial strength" Swiffer. You can throw the pads in the laundry and reuse them over and over. I wonder if DeSantis offers those?

Oh... almost forgot. We bought a Suzuki SX4 Crossover. The gas mileage is great and they're quick! I went to Rochester NY on a half tank of gas.

Use Fels Naptha soap shredded and mix it with Borax. One tablespoon will do a load of laundry. Cheap as all get-out.

We steam our floors. No chemical residue. There's an up front cost but the ROI for us comes quick when you have almost 1000 feet of tile in your house. Plus the swiffer chemicals leave a residue at attracts dirt.

Laundry soap: Grate up one bar Fels Naptha soap, combine with 1 cup Borax and one cup Arm and Hammer WASHING soda.  Use only 1 tablespoon per load.  This is a low sudsing soap and CAN be used in front loading high efficiency machines.

Fabric softener: 1 teaspoon distilled white vinegar to rinse cycle

Automatic dishwashing soap: combine 1 cup borax and one cup Arm and Hammer Baking soda.  use one tablespoon per load.

Jet dry:  fill your dispenser with white distilled vinegar.  sure you might smell your dishes but sure beats the price of Jet dry.

Like clorox clean up?  mix one part Regular bleach to 5 parts water.  works just as well.  I also add a tablespoon of peroxide to my spray bottle.

Shaving cream for both men and ladies: Body wash with moisturizers!  definitely cheaper and less bottles cluttering up your shower.

Don't have a steamer for tough stains or wood?  Wet area with water, place a single paper towel over the area and heat up your iron!  Works great on grease stains on cabinetry and behind your stove.  Do NOT use on resin treated surfaces.

Vacuums with the replacement filters:  Extend the life of your filter by blowing the dirt out with an air compressor.  The cans of compressed air work too though not as well.

Broken through underwires in bras:  Push underwire back in, cut a thin strip of patch material (can buy these at Jo Ann's or Ghettomart)  Iron Patch strip on the wire on the inside of the bra.  Then stitch using zigzag pattern, adjust stitch width to fit, and shorten the length of the stitch.  Use coordinating threads made of 40wt 100% Trilobal polyester (found at Joann's.)
