Just a thought about loose kids running around on the lawn... one could hardly call that a money-generator for the Park either.

I would think more people would come to see the classic cars, which in turn generates money for the Park, and thirsty and hungry observers.

This isn't an arguement between "bikes" or "cars" or who drinks the most alcohol is it?
I mean, seriously, if it was, that's awfully petty ~and a poor way to handle business, or a business disagreement.

One could simply ask the cruisers not to bring in their own "refreshments", if it was a problem. Then the cruisers who still want to show up (if any) will.

Besides, bikers don't have a lot of room in their saddlebags for a six-pack.

One more thing...

It's like what's wrong with Downtown Meadville. They put up those dang meters, and then wonder why no one wants to shop in town. It's not the 25 cents for parking, it's the $10 ticket.

I was at a meeting in town last week. I got there just as the meter cop was giving a ticket to the car next to where I parked. I thought about how bad that was for business. Someone was probably at the Market House buying something, stopped in at the restaurant for a cup of coffee and a sandwich and ran over their time. When they come out... there's a $10 ticket.

What a loss for everyone involved. Plus the ticketed person tells 10 of their friends, and soon no one is going to the Market House to buy anything.... all because of a stupid 25 cent meter. Or is it?

So, the city gains $10 but looses countless dollars in the process, plus they have succeeded in putting a bitter taste in the mouths of all of the ticketed person's friends, and hey... me too... and all the people I tell this story to. How many people are involved now?

Then the businesses go bankrupt because no one wants to shop downtown, so the city loses tax dollars, "privilege to work" taxes, more monthly parking fees for the workers and business owners, and their stinking 25 cents for the meter.

Good job guys. Oh... and Shiny is on the City Council also.... go figure.
He's our "Deputy Mayor"!

Well... the same goes for the Park.

If you're going to start counting how many beers the cruisers or the bikers buy, even though they are one of the main attractions for the day... well... seems like cutting off your nose to spite your face.

The bikers may not ride the rides but they certainly drink and a portion of which goes directly to the park.

Nah - that's all tied to the liquor license at the Beach Club. Doesn't really go to the Park. (From what I understand.) the Park wants cruisers to come and spend money there. The Beach Club wants bikers to come and drink beer there. (The Beach Club runs the outdoor beer thing on the free act lawn.) The funding streams are spearate and money from the sale of alcohol doesn't go to the Park . . . at least that's what I gather from what I've heard . . . .

Based on the lease agreement with the Beach Club a portion does go to the park......  Again not trying to start an argument, just my observations over the season.  If the kids had wristbands running in that lawn that was $16 each for Lisko and a portion of which to the park.  Unfortunately I did not see enough of those wristbands most weekends I was there.  Anyone heard if Lisko will actually try this again, 7 year lease agreement aside?  Hope so but I am certainly concerned.  :-\

Yes, the kids paying for the wristbands and rides is a great thing. No disagreement there.

Except that their parents probably gave them the money to pay for the wristbands so they could ride all day, and probably paid a parking fee.... and the parents would like a little adult entertainment as well... like a car show ...or a bike show ...or music ...or a ride on the Kaylee Belle.

Everyone goes home happy.

Like I asked is this just a rumor?,,,,I hope! Ya know, there used to be several drinking water fountains in the park but they are gone. Pay for water? Something that is God given? Never! I also think the cars more than do their part in just being there. People come to see the cars and SPEND MONEY while they are there. I have about ruined my cholesterol count this year just on park fries not to mention eating at the Beach Club. I see nothing wrong with both factions being in the park. Abate is one of the best Bikers Club there is and they benefit many. I'd like to hear direct from Jack Moyers what he thinks of the future for the cruisers remaining in the park on Fridays.

That's good then - cuz honestly - I think the Beach Club is likely the revenue producer out there.

It seems one group is trying to redo/restore part of the park with their profit and the other group is pocketing what money they get.  Will all the restoration of the boardwalk, hotel, beach club be in vain if the amusement park can't stand on it's own?  As I walk through the park I see nothing but cigarette butts, peeling paint and dead flowers.  To me, Lisko should use one or two of those employees standing around to try to clean/fix up the place.  Spend a few dollars and plant some mums.  Use a blower to clean up all the debris.  Get rid of those godforsaken melted globe lights that line the Midway.   Walking through that area is actually depressing.  Perhaps either the bikers or cruisers could move up to where the ballroom once stood.  It just seems like such an empty, lonely area.

There were so many cars there Friday night, they couldn't all park in the "traditional" places....I could see the potential conflict this weekend, though....The bikers have been using the lawn, etc on Sundays, but this weekend, with the holiday and all the Do-Wopp events, seems like the cruisers wanted there....the only reason we go just about every Friday night is to see the cars, and people I know...and you cant go without BUYING some refreshments/concessions, whatever they may be...I see nothing wrong with the cruisers on Friday nights, and the bikers Sunday afternoon...but during the holidays and special events, it will take a little better coordination.....but hey, too many people is a nice problem to have, it sure beats the alternative...

Well the Free Act Lawn was supposed to be reserved all weekend long Friday-Sunday for the Do-Whop Festivities which was planned and confirmed back in March when Greg Suttherland approached us about running it. So what did actually happen on Sunday? I have not a clue but it was not right what ever happened. I was not there on Sunday because of prior commitments so I dont know, so for now I am staying quiet until I get the facts.

I checked out the bricks on Saturday and they looked very nice. All very clean and readable. I was pleasantly surprised!
I for one hope that the cars can continue their Friday nite cruise. Then.....I wouldn't mind if the bikers had it Saturday and Sunday. We just want Friday nites.

I would think that everyone could coexist, or is there a severe shortage of parking spaces? I don't know what the abate chapter is like there. I do know they vary widely in behavior. In California they were bikers that rode. In the south some of the Abate chapters fly colors.

Hope everything all works out. The last thing anyone or anything needs is an "incident" to screw it up for everyone.
