"Have they decided what is going in the empty space where Dreamland Ballroom used to ?" .......IMHO, I think that space should be where the NEW Dreamland Ballroom Complex should be, rebuilt to look like the former one.  Now if only somehow the money could show up to make this a reality!

My opinion: There are MANY places around the country that are "show clubs" where you go see concerts in an intimate setting. Usually if you want a seat by the stage you get s reservation and have dinner there as well. Invest in a stage and decent sound system, start working with booking agencies. It's close enough to Erie, and other places that it's not that bad of a trip. When I lived in LA I would regularly drive 40+ miles to go see a show. (Galaxy theater in Santa Ana Zip?)

The facility could also double for a lot of other things as well. This type of setup has been very successful all over the country, especially in converted theaters (Ventura Theater Zip?) or small intimate spaces with enough room to seat up to 500 people at most.

The possibilities go on and on. It just needs to be planned right.

IC2ITUC : Something like a spa INCORPORATED into the design could pay for the complex. Businesses do it all the time...and if you have a year round business there, it could only help the park, Christmas lighting, village atmosphere, something like Helen Georgia or Frankenmuth Michigan.

Somebody with vision REALLY needs to look over the possibilities...

I think it should be rebuilt as a dance hall and bring back the polka fests and other bands. Maybe a spa and some shops upstairs. A stage would be a must. Hold the big company raffles there like they used to have on the free act lawn. It would be held inside in case of rain.  ???

It's amazing how well those places work. I saw the absolute best talent in small intimate 300 seat dinner clubs throughout LA.  Smokey Robinson, Evelyn Champagne King, BB King, blues and jazz clubs,  I could go on and on. I never go to stadium concerts anymore unless I can get within the first 5 or 6 rows, and even then it's been a while.

I saw the Eagles reunion tour in Pittsburgh from the moon... may as well have been... and got to watch them perform live on a monitor for the space cadets and nearly got a bloody nose from the altitude up there. LOL. I didn't buy those tickets, I went because my brother bought them for the family. Otherwise, I am pretty spoiled I guess. Bigger is not always better you know... unless it comes to using your mind.

The Warner Theater is nice for a show too. I got to see Joe Walsh from the 3rd row. (LOVE Joe.)

Moondog's Pub in Blawnox Pa has had some big names for a very small club. He has the reputation for it.

I happen to know that the Palms is looking to do something really interesting at their place. They have a great stage, and somethinglike 20 acres of land to build on, to bring in some name acts. They had some recent success with the Clarks.

I think the Park's potentials are great too, but there's the financial considerations. Building while still so far in debt to the community may not be in their immediate plans.

How many here have donated to the Blue Streak restoration fund?

I'm betting the park wouldn't let any kind of a fastfood place in the park yet the park doesn't really offer much food other than the Beach Club offerings (yuck).  >:(

PRECISION,  Glad you have rejoined the "family".  Check with Eileen about contacting me, if you want.  I too had a ROUGH year financially.  Wanda was right saying that most banks are currently not loaning to small businesses.  I tried to get loans, refinance my home and office, but none would do it, even with "tons" of equity and credit scores in the high 700s! I like some others, am property rich but working cash poor! I finally got an independent investor to refinance my office with some cash out, but at 3% higher than my previous mortgage, but I had to do it or go under.  I think alot of us wanted 09 GONE! Some of you may have noticed that I lost weight (over 20 lbs.) last summer and didn't look perky.  The worry of over 1 year took it's toll!  I wouldn't wish that "diet" (money worries) on anyone.  Now I have some money in the bank, gained back my weight, and looking as "pretty" as ever!   ;D

Welcome back Pest - we missed you and were worried.  My husband and I also had some losses this year - lost our jobs and lost our health insurance.  Everyone is scrambling one way or another and here is hoping for a better 2010.  IC2 - I didn't notice your weight loss, here is to a better tomorrow.
I have always thought the park would do well if they would put in some health food.  I know that when I went with my kids we would pack some stuff just because the food was so bad for you.  Everyone is watching what they are eating.
