I have no idea what a bike weighs but I would think they would want to park them on something solid like the Dreamland concrete or the asphalt lots adjacent to the lawn. They look heavy to me. Wouldn't a kickstand go right down in the lawn dirt and cause the bike to fall over??? Get rid of that ride and food shack that is at the east end of the midway for more room. That ride and the other broken one should be up with the others anyway.

Oh gosh, do I have a "heavy bike" story... I dropped Mr. Zip's bike on my leg one day. Not fun at all, and I limped for a week afterwards. Thank goodness I didn't damage the bike at all, and thank God Mr. Zip isn't the kind of guy that smacks women around....  . Let's just say I shouldn't have tried to move the bike, and probably won't ever try that one again.

Bikes ARE heavy, and can easily sink in soft soil just using a kickstand. Most experienced riders keep a crumpled soda can or a flat rock to put under the stand to help with that. You can also buy a "foot" or a "plate" for them.

Kickstands will also dig right into the asphalt on a hot day.

Anyone interested in a Claim Bake?  Spoke to Joyce Popovich this evening and she is looking for ideas.  Could tie in with a Pittsburgh or Cleveland football game. Kaylee Bell cruise.  Saturday or perhaps Sunday.  Weather may be iffy but they always have the Beach Club and down under.  Bonfire on the beach.  A great band.  Has potential in my opinion.  I sure would go and help support the Park Restoration group who, again in my opinion, is doing a fantastic job.

Off topic, but I recall that someone posted a comment about removing mold on the bricks near the train - what was that solution?  I'm thinking water, pine sol & bleach?.....would that work on carpeting?...........thanks
SJL,   That "Someone", was me.  :) The solution mix was what you stated - H2O, Pine Sol, and a LOT of Bleach.  Even if you diluted the bleach part, I wouldn't try it on a carpet.  There are many effective carpet cleaning products which would most likely be better to try.  Go on-line, call an honest, caring professional carpet cleaner and ask for their suggestions, ask friends, etc..........Hope you all had a Great Holiday.  The Beach was great.  Great weather, parties, friends, and Hash Run.  It was one of the first Dewey Beach Hashes, where the "Hares" (I was one of them) were not accused of setting a Sh..ty trail.  For all you Hashers out there, you know what I'm talking about! ;D

SJL, get ahold of a product called (la's totally) "Awesome" found at the Family Dollar Store.
It works wonders on my carpets. It's far better than any other commercial carpet cleaner that I've used.  IC2ITUC, thanks for cleaning the bricks. They really look good along the pathway leading to the railroad.  I check out my brick everytime I go to CLP.

I am certainly concerned about Lisko "holding their own" and the lack of commitment to improvements on their part.  Even simple ones like keep the mini-golf clear of "natural" obstacles.  $200k is a lot of money for the Bluestreak and I feel this is necessary to attract more people with the current pricing.  Park Restoration on the other hand started work on the boardwalk, redid the ballroom and adjacent bar which now looks great, opened and improved the Spirit lounge, started restoration on the Hotel restaurant, started work on the Hotel condos, opened and put a new roof on the "mama bears" / teen dance newest location, added the floating stage, put new bench seating in the Beach Club and not to forget all the events (Halloween organization, Christmas lights, volleyball,  bands etc.)  I hope it all does no go in vain.

I see the Steve and Greg cheerleading team made the migration ok. Don't break your arm patting yourself on the back. At least Lisko's are paying their fees on time.

This is a great idea. The Kaylee Belle will be open weekends thru the end of October. Let me know and we can work up a package deal!

Darby - No chearleading just pointing out some obvious differences (coat of paint vs. improvements).  I do want both to succeed without a doubt and I have spent my fair share of money to help both groups.    The inferral that Park Res. is not paying the bills (if this is the case) might have something to do with the lack of understanding on the actual lease agreement, it's contents and payment expectations.  If the board (or Darby) reads the agreement it spells out the timing of the payments that were agreed upon and that have been met.  I heard Park Rest. did not even get paid for the boardwalk work that was done to date even though the board is the one collecting the donations.    Maybe that is actually the one you are referring to not paying on time? ??? ?  Lisko - paying on time, hope so but their own comments in the article have me concerned of them being back if we do not have meaningful changes.

Darby, you posts are always so spiteful and negative.  It's blatantly obvious you have issues with Park Restoration as if they have personally done you wrong.  Once again you pretend you have inside information on who is paying what regarding the lease agreements.  Can you make a list of all the improvements Lisko has made as compared to Park Restoration?  Take your negativity elsewhere.  It's getting old.       ::)

interesting to note in that Erie Times article, one bar owner cited lack of area attractions for his decline in business, yet says his business isn't tied to the Park...huh ?!?!?!?

I think the Liskos comments are more of caution than negativity....with just about the coldest July on record, and a wetter than normal summer, I think it's hard to judge future expectations on what happened this year...I think had they had last summers weather this year, they could have easily doubled attendance...

The weather was a dissappointing factor for everyone this summer.
The Friday Frenzy  kinda bombed out I think with the price changes. One Friday it was $10.00 a carload or $3.00 a person. the next week it was $15.00 a carload or $5.00 a person. Come on, people are not stupid. They notice these changes from one week to the next and think, OH! They got me last week but they want to get me harder this week. Guess what kids. We are not going to the park this week. We will go to a movie instead or somewhere else. Many lessons yet to be learned!   ::)
