Was up there today helping a budy with his cottage. Like the idea of racing on the lake but the weather did not cooperate this year, hopefully they will try again later in Feb or March. Was suprised to see how much of the boardwalk is to be replaced this year, it looks like Greg and Steve will have completed over 3/4 of this project by this spring. If you haven't purchased a board you might miss out. There was an event today involving sales and swaps of snowmobiles, atvs and other motorsports equipment that looked like was fairly well attended but I saw three out of five cars in front of me at the entrence turn around once they were asked for a entrance fee. Who the hell comes up with the idea of entrence fees for these events? They are killing any good will that this park is trying to establish. Does anyone know if it is the trustees or Steve and Greg?

When I think of how packed the park used to be back in the day,,,,,,and there was never a charge to park or enter.
They just don't get it yet. With that kind of petty money grabbing ,the park will never make it. It is really an embarrassment to us that remember how packed the park used to be. I sure wish Mr. Tarr and Mr. Freeland were still running things.   ::) >:(

Too bad the temperature isn't as "bitter" as the comments on this board!

I too, long for the summer days when the park was packed - but I can't remember any year-round events back in the good ol' days. There are bills to pay, if the improvements that everyone wants are to be done - they need to raise the money somehow.

I like the idea of a "Donation", leaving it up to each car's people, to decide what to give, is what I would try.  I would have a sign stating that "Any donation amount, will help us to keep our loving Park open", or something to this affect.  I believe in the good hearts of people, even in these financially difficult times.  Many of those who do give, even a little,  will have it returned to them in some manner, and many will feel "good", thereby feeling their God selves.

Stopped by for dinner tonight at the Hotel.   Very good food and a decent crowd.  Great to see some nice progress.  Got there before dark and had a chance to look around.  Looking in the Dockside it looks awesome from what I see.  2/3 of the boardwalk is complete.  Saw new windows and more ac/heat units going in the Hotel as well.   Also new shingles along the porch.   Even heard tonight at the bar they plan on painting the exterior of the Hotel before the summer season.  Going to look great and seems work is progressing slowly but surely.  Hope it continues.

I miss you also LOCK, I don't know if I will ever see you and the Mrs., again since you don't seem to want to go to the Park anymore.  Keep the car out of the salt ( I know you do  ;D ) and maybe you will surprise us someday and return.  We got 5-7 inches of snow this weekend at the mountain bunker so I know you all got some in the Meadville area!  I'm glad that they are doing all the work on the hotel and by keeping it open year round, there will be less chance of breakins, Park vandalism etc., like what happened in the past when the Park was totally closed.

IC2ITUC I'd go to the park if they wanted my car too. It doesn't go so I don't go. Maybe the car scene will return one day but I don't think it will be soon.

You are right Lock. They once again this year wanted the car club to come back to the park since there attendence and $$ went down hill in 2010 and 2011... Check it out, They wanted the cars to pay $6.00 a car in which they would give you a food voucher (yuck), no coolers of any sort.... now that was the closer right there...So we once again said "NO THANK YOU", go find another car club and good luck....See what happens when you bite the hand that feeds you?.. They wanted the Bikers and now they dont want them. Guess the bikers dont bring a crowd like the CAR PEOPLE do...Nothing against the Bikers, I have many friends that ride...CLP F**KED up and now CLP is hurting for money and do not let anyone tell you otherwise...

"since there attendence and $$ went down hill in 2010 and 2011..."

Oh, how not true.  They had more weddings and events the last two years they knew what to do with, sometimes two in one weekend.  That's why they fixed up the dockside for some of the overflow.  When was the last time they had that?  If only the rides could make the turnaround as well.
