I suppose the reason is that is where the market is. China is the fastest growing consumer market.So as consumerism is rising there, more company resources move to meet demand of that market.I would guess that if you looked at the U.S. Fortune 500 companies. The large majority would have more that 50% of their annual revenue coming from non-U.S. operations.

Stimulus Creating Jobs... ::) ...

http://www.katu.com/news/local/132361303.html

To say you can't find Americans for these jobs is BS!

I thought in a capitalistic market the so-called "job creators" were supposed to keep moving their wages higher until they are able to find  people—from that country not half-way around the world— willing to work at that wage. >:(

So the gist is that the 29 Americans that were offered jobs refused them.  I don't know what the minimum wage is in Oregon but is a lot of states, based on your contribution to "thesystem" you actually wind up further ahead by not taking the job because unemployment pays more. Plus if you take a job you know will be temporary sometimes your unemployment compensation is calculated by your most recent paycheck.

What I think is short sighted is the money paid to the migrant workers winds up in a foreign economy and not back in our own. However the companies go to the lowest bidder. People homes and families can't compete with people who travel from place to place and live in dormitory living arrangements. It would be interesting (for me anyhow) to see a break down of where the money really goes and who the real beneficiaries.

the other shoe: http://community.statesmanjournal.com/blogs/dickhughes/2011/10/20/inspector-general-confirms-oregon-forestry-contractors-improperly-hired-254-foreign-workers-with-stimulus-funds/
The timber in question was from public lands, and additional digging determined that the funding for inspectors to investigate / police these contracts,, especially the H2B program was withdrawn by Congressional budget cuts to the GAo. No one was watching the store, nor was the door locked.

Well it appears that fast and furious will finally have the lid peeled from its own can. Evidently the cat is out of the bag as to the who and the why. This is going to be a tough one explaing away as why the government is acting against it's own constitution.

I loathe them.

Seriously.

And if anyone thinks Romney and Gingrich are a solution - they're mistaken.

Sure... it's a Tea Party production, but it's funny and scary all at the same time.

Hmm, looks like the Fed, I mean we, are bailing out Europe now!
It will be interesting to see if this gets any attention from the mainstream media.

So let me get this straight, if possible. We bailed out europe, China loaded us money, though it was not involved (AFAIK) in our bailout. We have poured money into India and various middle east countries. I don't think we've done anything for Russia. China sure hasn't. SE Asia has been doing okay on it's own for a couple of decades after we kickstarted things. Somebody's going to get screwed hard eventually and someone willl facing some blowback. The "when" factor is the wildcard.

Has anyone here ever played the board game "Diplomacy?"
