My babies are in the gallery.  I think.  Should go see what's new there, huh?  I think everyone here knows I advocate the Invisible Fence.  One of the very best things I have done for both my dogs AND us.  It makes their life happier and my life easier.  Those of you with dogs will NEVER regret installing it I promise you.

We have two neighbors with invisible fences. Across the street they have two boxers. The male seems to have no problem going right through it to go across the street and through another fence to play with the pit bull next door who never leaves the fence. The boxers are not so well behaved and jump on you and are generally rough, but not mean. The pit on the other hand is a well behaved sweetheart. Though being a pit there's always that seed of doubt in the back of my mind.

Your neighbor across the street needs to call the company and have an adjustment made.  Maybe some additional training.  It's all included in the cost for as long as you have it.  Even if you move.  (If it's the "Invisible Fence" brand).

They have it turned up as high as it will go. Even with new batteries in the collar and the fence at full power his desire to go play is stronger than what the fence can dish out.

Hmmmmm.  My dogs are big.  One is half Staffordshire terrier (AKA Pitbull) and I know neither would even dream....no matter WHAT..... of heading across that line.  At first the half Pit did - once - and I had the guy come out and adjust and train and he hasn't gone again since.  Even when the amish go by and they for some reason send my Golden Retriever bonkers......even when the dogs directly across the road taunt them.........That's been about a year and a half ago when I got it put in.....we had a ifferent vesion of the fence that we self installed.  Got it from Tractor Supply.  It is actually made by the same company but is made for smaller dogs in a small area and the signal is up and down for about 12 inches or less.  Not 360 degrees for about four feet.  We leave on long weekends....even went to the fair for 9 days and they stay.  The company claims 100% satisfaction and all together I'd say they came out 5 times after the initial installation and training session to readjust because the two dogs are different and needed different settings and different training.  We have ten acres enclosed for them so the underground line is thicker/stronger.....bigger gauge.....maybe that is what they need even if the area is much smaller?

We have similar fence for our first dog, Angel (now 13) and while just hangs around now, we are planning on getting it up and going again for our new puppy.  Following the training is ESSENTIAL for successful dog containment. If you don't do all the steps in training, you won't have success. (Husband used to be an installer)

Yea I once had chipmunk and an occasional mouse problem and I found a way to eliminate the problem all together.. Floating around on the web on how to get rid of chipmunks, etc... Shakeaway is what I found and yes it does work... Go to the site    www.shakeaway.com for info.

Why didn't I think of that?

 PetRelocation.com
Austin, Texas
Entrepreneur: Kevin O'Brien, 34, and Angie O'Brien, 34
Product/Service: Pet travel
Start Date: 2004
Start-up Costs: $97,000
Revenue in 2008: $2.5 million
"Pets aren't just household goods -- they're beings, just like people are." Such is the mantra of Kevin and Angie O'Brien, the husband-and-wife team who sold a doggy day-care business to get into the pet-moving game. They invested $97,000 of the proceeds in a new van, Google ads, a Web site, a USDA-backed carriers and intermediate handlers license (allowing the couple to transport animals over state lines) and a $300 membership to IPATA, an international trade association of animal handlers. The couple says it can move any live animal, anywhere around in world -- say, a dog from Seattle to Shanghai, mole rats from South Africa to San Antonio and dart frogs from Switzerland to the U.S. It's a turn-key service, covering airline bookings, blood tests, vet check-ups, logistics, customs and quarantine. The company expects to pull in $3.5 million in revenue this year, has been debt free since day one and turned a profit in its second month.

My cousin used a service when she moved from Florida to Texas. She has over 40 cats, 30+ dogs and two horses. (She also runs a no-kill shelter)

no zip, i wasnt setting traps, just opening up the eaves of the house and removing the walnuts and sealing the house. one year they got in and we heard them crunching on walnuts all winter long.. lol

i grew up on a farm. my dad was the kindest man to animals there was that ever lived.  now mind, we lived on a farm so there were animals we had to eventually eat but my dad taught us that how we treated animals revealed much of what we are made of inside.  i would add that our relationships with other human beings can do that as well.

Thanks for the laugh about the critters munching on walnuts. Haha. My dad had a squirrel invasion once, but it wasn't pretty. They chewed holes in his ceiling. He was showing me the damage, and stuck his finger in one of the holes. A nut fell out when he did that. I was laughing so hard tears were shooting out of my eyes. He was very angry but I thought it was so funny.

I kind of delineate between pets, livestock and wild animals. They all get the same amount of respect from me. They're entitled.  Anything with an exoskeleton however gets less, especially if it's in the house. That's in the marriage contract!

I know. You're one of the good guys! Just taking the opportunity to help people think of all animals equally and with kindness.

Don't know if this is true or not. I checked Snopes but found nothing. I am surprised they would even make "Michael Vick" shirts at this point.

Got this in my email:

Just wanted to let you all know.... Dicks Sporting Goods is refusing to sell the Michael Vick jersey. Call them and thank them.  They are keeping track of the calls and will make the number public at a later date.
