I can't remember right off. I think Staples wants 25 cents a copy these days, and I think Document Solutions is 12 cents? I can call tomorrow and ask.

Where is Pest? Did he go back into the hospital for any reason, I wonder?

Thanks Lock. I got it in my account and will print up some fliers tomorrow.

Document Solutions color copies are 30 cents each and their B&W ones are only 10 cents, so I'll make up a B&W flier, and do a few color ones for the businesses in the area.

I can leave some at a business location to be picked up by anyone else who wants to go knock on doors and do hand-outs. Let me know if you are interested.

Have you tried calling the business?

Maybe this is too simple, but on the posted flyer about Scooter's disappearance, (Lost Dog "Scooter"), just below the topics of this forum, is the telephone # of: 814-382-0108.  Is this Jim's number and if not, who's is it?

The Veterinarian

One Sunday, in counting the money in the weekly offering, the Pastor of a small church   found a pink envelope containing $1,000. It happened again the next week!

The following Sunday, he watched as the offering was collected and saw an elderly woman put the distinctive pink envelope o n the plate. This went on for weeks until the pastor, overcome by
curiosity, approached her.

"Ma'am, I couldn't help but notice that you put $1,000 a week in the collection plate," he stated.

"Why yes," she replied, "every week my son sends me money and I give some of it to the church."

The pastor replied, "That's wonderful. But $1000 is a lot, are you sure you can afford this? How much does he send you?"

The elderly woman answered, "$10,000 a week."

The pastor was amazed. "Your son is very successful; what does he do for a living?"

"He is a veterinarian," she answered.

"That's an honorable profession, but I had no idea they made that much money," the pastor said. "Where does he practice?"

The woman answered proudly, "In Nevada .. He has two cat houses, one in Las Vegas , and one in Reno '

I am making a plea for some help!!!
There is money available to have some posters of Scooter the lost dog made up and distributed. That is the easy part.
Now,,,, the hard part! We need a few folks to put up these posters at different localities in the Conneaut Lake area particurally on the westside of the lake.
Janet, Sunflower, anybody?
This will probably be our last effort to join Scooter back up with Pest. He is having some hard times right now and I think having Scooter back would be good therapy for him. :)

Lock -
I have to take my dog to the vets Saturday morning, but I could help in the afternoon.   Do you want to take the flyers door-to-door or just to businesses?   My e-mail is sunflower.ap@gmail.com.

Have you talked to Pest lately?

Sunflower, I knew we could count on you from volunteering in the past. I don't know where Pest is right now and I'm in Florida. The person to talk to is Zipper. She is having the posters printed up soon so you can work with her.  ;D

Update on the Dane adoption:

Last Tuesday we drove down to Washington PA to meet Dane #3, who was a little over 1 year old ~still very much a pup. He was all black with a spot of white on his chest, and beautiful.

His story was sad, someone had chained him to a tree and left him starving. He was completely emaciated when rescued, and had a chain embedded in his neck. Danes grow so fast, and their collars get tight so quickly.

The rescue got him the surgery he needed to remove the chain, and now he was strong, healthy, and ready for adoption. He was living at the beautiful home of a Washington PA humane officer, so he is safe, and happy where he is for now.

And oh my, was he playful.

He didn't have a mean bone in his huge body, but really wanted to play with our dog, who was very timid around him. In fact, this guy just didn't stop. We were there over an hour, both dogs unchained and able to roam around a heated double garage to get to know each other. The puppy played rough only because of his size. Big heavy paws bouncing around like Tigger, jumping and running... and barking. Our dog was on the defense, not quite sure what to do, but we kept him safe.

The mom warned us that this was #3's behavior all the time, that he really didn't stop, and needed lots of attention. She has to separate him from her small Chihuahuas because he would likely injure them just from being so goofy and playful. She also has cats, and he didn't seem to mind them at all.

We really had fun with him, took him outside for a bit and gave him some treats. He has learned "sit" so far, and is housebroken, but has no attention span for much else at that time. He was not tethered outside, and never wandered away, or outside of their yard.

After a while we left and our dog slept all the way home. He was pretty tired from all of the activity.

So...
We've made a decision.

We're taking dog #2...
He's an older Dane, 6 years old right now. Even though he is "up in years" for a Dane, we feel he will be the best fit at this time for our current dog, and our lifestyle. I think the puppy will make a great dog in a year or so, or for someone with a bit more energy than Mr. Zip or myself.

The older Dane needs a home too, and even though he may not have many years left, we can make them good years for him. And he is still playful, well mannered, absolutely beautiful, and very loving.

So... we will have our new family member next weekend. This week he will go back to the vet for another checkup, and any updates on his shots, and then the foster parents will bring him here and introduce him to our home.

I'll be sure to take pictures and post them.

 :)
