ZIP, That is a cute face, but my "7 Springs Girlfriend" Cupcake, is a cutie also.  She lives one floor down from me, and about 1/2 hour ago she gave me so many doggie kisses that I don't have to wash my face for awhile!  :)

Awwww Zip!  what a sweetie!  I got my kitties from the Anna shelter.  Kali, approximately 5yrs and Meeka, approximately 6yrs old.  They are the best kitties.  Kali loves sleeping in bed with me and snuggling up licking the back of my neck.  Silly kitty.  Meeka has a funny little quirk that she absolutely will NOT drink her water from the bowl like a regular kitty.  She uses her paw to dip in like a laddle then bring to her mouth and sip.  Such a dainty little girl.

We also have Sven, Twinkie and Malyshka.    Sven is my 14yr old male polydactyl.  Total doll baby kitty.  His brother passed away last October.    Twinkie is a 3yr old female tiger.  She's only the size of a kitten though.  Vet says shes normal.

Malyshka was just found a few weeks ago outside freezing in those cold temps dumped along a back road.  We were heading back from Erie when they had 79 closed and took a wrong turn somewhere.  No clue where.  Middle of BFE though and saw a tiny set of eyes in the middle of the road.  At first we thought it was a possum or coon.  THEN  realization hit. UGH!  Stop the car!  That is just a baby!  and its DUMPED!  Wish I could beat the SOB who did it to her.  At least she wasn't there too long and was in fairly decent shape.  Nope, wont take her to shiney's hole.  Took her to the vet.  Guesses put her around 3 months old.  She's slightly larger than Twinkie already and a total cuddle bug.  She MAY be going to my mother's house to live next weekend assuming Dad comes through his surgery alright.  If not, it might be a tad longer.

And yes, other than the baby?  ALL my kitties are spayed/neutered.  Bob Barker is proud of ME!  hehehe

Doggy kisses are great. So uncomplicated and honest. :)

I just got on today and saw the request for posting flyers at the Lake - sorry I haven't been around - things have been crazy in my world.  Let me know Zip or Sunflower if you need me to do anything.  Again, sorry.
My pet story is similar but not the same.  In 2000 a friend of mine was driving a tractor/trailer through the mountains of West Virginia and saw someone throw a litter of puppies off of a bridge.  By the time he got down below there was only one puppy that he could save.  He pulled her out and put her in his coat - she was small and way too young to be away from her mother.  I had lost my dear sweet Amadeaus a few months before and wasn't sure I was ready for another dog - thought that when the time was right I would know it.  My friend asked me if I wanted this puppy and I said no - I just wasn't ready.  The next week I had to take my car to the shop for inspection and I called my friend for a ride to work (we worked together).  He said sure - when I got into his car there was a fur ball sitting on the seat - he picked her up and put her in my arms and the rest is history.   Maxine is the queen of my house and we love each other totally.  Can't imagine my life without her.  Can you imagine anyone having the ability to throw puppies off of a bridge.

I just read a story on the SPCA website about a dog who's owner doused him with gas and set him on fire. He also had cigarette burns on him from previous attacks. http://pspca.org/

People are ignorant, and until the rest of us demand changes nothing will change. If not on a criminal justice level, then certainly on a social level.

People thumb their noses up at smokers more than they do abusers. That's social conditioning.

And people don't want to get involved, so the abuse continues. The laws now are NOT good enough. And the prosecutors need to take the abuse seriously, bnecause there is a definite link between animal abusers and serial killers, or any kind of people-abusers also.

All you need to do is write a letter. That's it. One letter addressed to whom it may concern, then send it over and over again via email to legislators and lawmakers, and the local DA, and the humane society, and anywhere your voice can be heard.

Like I said previously, our government sticks their noses into everything else we do, what is the reason for this lack of quick action to animal abuse issues? Bottom of their list? No one cares?

I think more people do care.

Pet Abuse .com is a good website to visit.
http://www.pet-abuse.com/ you can check out crimes local to PA.

Just click on this story for an eye opening to the courts, and just how perverted and sick people can and will be, without laws to protect the animals. The headline of this story is:
"Sex with horse results in man's death
Enumclaw, WA (US)"

http://www.pet-abuse.com/cases/5034/WA/US/

Sometimes I wonder why I care so much. When people much smarter, and far more wealthy than I do not care at all, or are so consumed with themselves that all they do care about is where their next botox injection is coming from, and/or what new gadget some guy will buy himself so he can brag to his buddies.

People have lost sight of what's important. Maybe it's stress. We do work hard, and we don't have a lot of time to enjoy life, but with the kind of people running around among us who would have sex with horses, or sheep, or douse a dog with gas... I just don't know.

There are really good people out there trying hard to make changes, and doing it with very little support. If you do care, but don't want to actually get into the trenches, then donate a few dollars to the animal rescue or group of your choice, and help them be able to do the dirty work.

I know... I know... there are so many causes. Help kids, help starving people in 3rd world countries, help starving kids here in America. I was just told about a group helping run-away teens stay warm during the recent cold weather in Texas. There's so much to do. How do you choose?

I guess you just pick the thing closest to your heart, and do something to help.
The important thing is to do something, and I know many of you already do.

Animal abuse pisses me off to no end.  They are capable of such great total unselfish love.  If we, as humans, could do that for each other, what a better world this place would be.  This is why I choose to stay in my silence without my hearing aides in most of the time and just enjoy the way the animals communicate.  It is so pure.

Yes... I've been concerned. I don't know his sister either.
