Well, 18 months later we are buying a place in the country.....the rest is history.

the "rest is history" part Mrs Puff calls "accessorizing", which is all the add on's needed to accomplish the objective. Like $10K worth of fence, water tanks or stock ponds, trailers, tractors ect.
And if you don't show up at the feed store for a couple of days they call to see if your alright. lol.
I agree with the country living, but if I happened to inherit a place at Central Park West in the "Apple", I might say the same thing about that.

A place in Central Park?  Heck yeah!  It would be a fun getaway though.  Not a full time residency.

Accessorizing?  Is that whatcha call it?

I used to have to go to "the apple" for work. It was fun the first time. The second time I was happy to leave. After that I hated to go. There's a lot of great things there but all in all everytime I set foot outside it was "I'm in New York. Oh crap... I'm in New York!" I guess it was just a bit too bombastic for me.

I worked for a year on Madison between 56th and 57th . Lousy commute, but a great place to work.

I always stayed at the Vista in the WTC. All my work was IT stuff to support trust custody trading. I never made it further north than mid-town.

I absolutely could not do New York... not even as a millionaire.

I've traveled there twice as a hairdresser for a client of mine who wrote a book and was on a signing tour. It was a fun visit, but as a lifestyle I couldn't do it. Too much on top of too much on top of more than too much.

Little boxes in old buildings for apartments, old pipes sticking out of everywhere, the "view" is a view of the building across the street into someone else's apartment. Rats, noise, cabs, honking, nope... not for me. There was a thunderstorm one night you couldn't even see because the buildings are so close together, and so tall, unless you are outside standing in it, the lightning is going on somewhere hidden behind another building.

The food was great, some excitement of being there for a visit, but overall I didn't like it. I don't like heights either, so a penthouse apartment would never appeal to me in the least.

LA is sooooo much different. Laid back, sunny, pretty landscapes with flowers and green grass, palm trees, new buildings and architecture, stucco homes, clean sidewalks and streets (even in the bad parts of town... )  lots of traffic, lots of smog on a stale day, but not noisy like NY. In general people are more friendly but the crime rate is high, food is great, beautiful shiny exotic cars... the ocean, the drive up the coast, soooo different than NY. Spread out, but very pretty there.

Funny how everyone has different experiences, my visit to LA made me really miss my home.  Couldn't wait to get home.  My trip to NY was better - not sure I would want to live there - but could if I had to.
Question - need a rabies clinic for my dog - she is overdue.  Saw tonight on the news that Erie is doing one this weekend - do we ever have any here in Meadville?

Titusville does them really cheap. No "office visit" charges, just the cost of the vaccine. It's the vet near the WalMart in Titusville. I can't remember the name.

Good question for Shiny.....

JP is right about the experience's. I love NYC.I probably had bad experiences but I dont remember them, cause the good far outweighed the bad. I will agree for a visitor it can be overwhelming.
However, to me the best large city experience you can get is without a doubt Chicago.
Zip , if you ever get there check out the beaches.
Kinda got a little off track with the Subject (Pet Issues) of this thread. My fault.

Brian Langdon did a rabies clinic at his office, in late March or April. WE do have them sometimes.

Wish I could go down and help but it is not in the cards, financially or medically. Oh well. Maybe next time there is a spill in Alaska or Canada or someplace not so hot or humid.
