Well, I hate snakes and think that they should not be kept as pets, especially those big ones. So I can't say I feel real sorry for that fellow.

....never ceases to amaze me that even though we are the most 'intelligent' species on the planet-

....we still remain in and not at the top of the food chain....

....of course those self-centered entitled less-cognitively-functioning within our species-

....fail to take such into consideration in their 'cool' pet-selection process....

....probably didn't pay attention to the Darwin lesson in high school biology either....

....another in a long list of rocket surgeons:  http://www.wtsp.com/news/watercooler/story.aspx?storyid=127084&catid=58[/]

Zip, I think you'll be pleased at the shift in attitude mentioned in this article.  I didn't read the whole thing yet but will.

There is a known link between animal abuse and those who harm children and others. So many people are mentally sick and cruel. If you, or anyone you know has hurt an animal, or has thoughts about hurting animals, call the PSPCA and let them know. http://www.pspca.org/

Groups are hoping to get an anti-tethering law passed soon, freeing gazillions of dogs from a lifetime of bondage at the end of a chain. Yes, this is blatant cruelty, "accepted" by our current laws. A lifetime of isolation and neglect while the dog waits patiently, day after day, chained to a 6 foot area, and gee, if the owner is "nice" a 10 foot area.

And while cats generally have more "freedom" they are also abused in unimaginable ways.

www.dogsdeservebetter.org

Just a note on mental illness.....

Nowadays, if one suspected themselves of being mentally ill, they can admit themselves for observation. There are an endless supply of groups one could join for help, hospitals, private counseling, medicines to help control behavior. There's no longer a social stigma on a medical condition such as schizophrenia, but there is medicine to help. Depression, anxiety, mood swings, bipolar, anorexia, bulimia, cutting, bestiality.... all are openly talked about now, and treatable.

But when one doesn't recognize they have a problem it's up to the people around them to step in and protect others from their wrath.

It's so simple. You pick up the phone, call the local authorities, and tell someone. Call a hotline if you don't want to leave your name, but do something. We all have to look out for each other, and for those without a voice.

....long time forumites will recall Gore's on-going relationship with his terror-to-the-mile-high-neighborhood next-door neighbor German Shepard  Commodore....

....for the new readers, Commodore is a rather undisciplined overly aggressive representative of his breed and all his other neighbors are terrorized by his attacking their fencing when they are out in their back yards....

....Commodore original broke my fence in his early arrival days and my neighbor endeavored to repair it attempting to contain the rage he apparently so desires in his 4-legged urban anti-burglar device....

....needless to say his repair efforts paralleled his canine-training skills-

....but I didn't make any effort to further repair it as it provided the opportunity to facilitate Commodore's clearly lacking behavioral training regimen,  from Gore's side of Commodore's cosmos, transitioning him from the incisor-displaying fencing eating maniac he was .....

.....to a really cool neighborly pal-

....after I returned from my recent road trip, the neighbor told me he  saw
(finally- after several years!) that Commodore was 'still trying' to break through my fence so he closed it up on his side for me :-[ ....

....well, about a half hour of creativity, der Commodore's needed social skills training continues  ;D -
