I was pretty sad today. Everywhere I looked there were chained dogs, panting in the hot weather and high heat, many without fresh water visible and many so far removed from the family home that they were barely visible out there.
But none so sad as this little guy.
Chained to post in the yard, barely able to reach his igloo for shelter, he didn't even have the comfort of a shade tree today. Left to sear in the hot sun, this long-hair beautiful white dog was filthy in his whole underbelly. I went to the house and knocked on the door. No answer. I left them a note saying I would be happy to take the dog and find him a good home, and I left my business card also.
There was no visible water available for the dog, just several old, overturned plastic serving trays, like those that come from frozen TV dinners. Food was all stuck and dried to them.
The photos I took were as I drove off. It's heartwrenching to have to leave a dog in this kind of circumstance, knowing that I can not even call the humane society to help,
(MY STORY) and even if I did... would anything get done?
So I left a note specifically saying...
Hello,
I would like to have your dog.
I believe I can help find it a good home.
Please call me if you would like to
give him to me. I hate to see him outside in
this heat without even a shade tree for
comfort, so I will come quickly to get
him for you.
Thank you."
And left my name and number.

(My note and business card)
All I can do is hope to get a call, and hope someone sees the note before it rains tomorrow.
You can see the post the dog is chained to in this photo.

My indoor - outdoor thermometer.

All over, chained dogs, unable to escape the heat and not a drop of water for them anywhere.
Where is the protection for them? Certainly not in Crawford County. The CCHS Board of Directors ought to be ashamed of themselves.
