Mrs. PA Falcon laid an egg sometime between yesterday and this AM.  Very cool. She looked like she was trying today but as of this evening, still only one. At one point both birds were "admiring" egg #1. VERY cute!

From the Cellar Image of the day.

New Zealand is home to the Kauri trees, a giant evergreen that has almost disappeared, mainly because it's light, strong and rot resistant, so favored for ship building. Of the remaining trees, the largest is 16 meters in girth and several are 2000 years old. Cape Reigna, at New Zealand's north end, was a swamp at one time, and the locals dig preserved trunks and stumps out of the bog. They use the wood to fashion musical instruments and crafts, from wood thousands of years old.
The Kauri mill has a shop where people can buy pieces of wood, or things made from it, that's centerpiece is this staircase.
This staircase was hollowed out of a stump, reportedly 75,000 years old.
That may or may not be true, but it sure was a big one.

Hey Gore: How did you get that Zino so cheap? I can't come close to that price without a printer or monitor, even with the discounts I get for being a state employee (or educator, whatever).
NP: I am ready to buy a desktop for home, what do you recommend? Remember, if it's that white box/ open source stuff you love, you have to train me pro bono  ;D  You still have to walk me through the home computer/proxy thing. Unless I can swing the internet phone thing below...

ANYONE: I am looking to get a smartphone with an unlimited data plan. I can't convince Mrs.TiFeMb to leave Verizon, and I need some info on a good phone AND plan.

Thanks for all your prayers and encouragement, I wouldn't be looking for all this crap if I didn't get through the last 18 months unscathed...

I have traditionally built my own computers because then I know what goes into them. Many of the big suppliers chince on some of the components for consumer stiff to knock the price down. Sometimes they fail and simetimes they don't . Since I work in an enterprise class shop I like solidly build stuff. Anyhow... I have been agonizing over the phone thing

Here's what I want to the right. Unfortunately it's not available in the US at the moment. It's only available in South Korea and China. It's currently Motorola's flagship phone. It has everything I want, camera, web access, open source OS (Android) and ton's of free applications that cost nothing ot just pennies to buy.

Who is picking it up remains to be seen. Rumor has it T-Mobile is getting it in whick case I go to the droid below
If the above phone does not come to the US as claimed I will end up with one of these. It has most of what is in the above phone and is available here under Verizon who does have better coverage in Florida btw Tife.

So that's my conundrum.

Tife, check with your employer. Many have agreements with cell providers that will get some discounts.

I got a call from my supervisor at work....she is also my very best friend in the world so I get all the work juice but have to keep it all on th DL and act dumb....no comments please.  Seems the bosses are investigating an employee - a FB friend of mine as well - for making disparaging remarks about the facility on FB.  She does too.  Uses names (not patient names but employees) and talks about work situations and practices and problems.   They are trying to nail her to the wall with it.  I tried to call her but she's not answering.  One of the big cheese is going to ask the snitch to help them access her FB page.  You can bet I'm looking to see if me and this person have any common FB friends.  This is the first time I have seen this kind of thing happen at work.

This isn't the first time something like this has happened with online services like FB. I try not to post anything opinionated, caustic or whatever would get me in trouble at work. I would post anything here either about work except for the stuff that is in the members only section. Where I work is waaaay too internet savy to not find stuff in publically accessible areas. I've never checked to see if any of the bots from work have scraped this site or not. I may have to just out of curiosity.

Everything except my name is private on FB and only the people listed as"friends" can see pictures, my friends list and all that stuff.....I try to be careful about who I let in.   I generally keep work people out cause I don't socialize much with them.  This is a heads up for me.
