Lock, Duke knocked WV, the team I picked to go all the way. Your team played as perfect a game possible. Impressive.

Yeh Puffin, I wasn't too happy with Duke the last three or four games with their first half performance. I thought they played a nealy perfect game with WVA tho. These playoff games get really rough and they are being called close for that reason. I just hope they do well tonight.  ::) ;D

Well, the final couldn't have been any better 61-59 . It's amazing that these kids are so good. The Butler coach had only been around for 3 yrs. He coached an unbelievable series, but Duke's Duke.

Found this on one of my wife's outdoor plants.

Its called a Luna moth. This is only the second I've ever seen. Showed up yesterday, and hasn't moved but a couple of inches since. It is alive.

NICE photos of the moth! Really great colors too. The tail is so graceful and flowing.

"Nature is so beautiful"... I agree to a point... what would think a leech is "beautiful"??? Ahhhh another leech LOL

Now lets get back to basics... I wonder how beautiful that young girl, from Grove City, thought nature was..... as the Wolves were crunching on her bones ... in Alaska? Speaking of which.... to those in PA... please be ready to give up applause for the return of more of our predators. I guess a man in Sandusky area of Ohio shot what he thought was a large Coyote. Well, Red Riding Hood.... it was one of the many migrating Wolves making their way around the lakes from the UP area. Folks.... they are headed this way and as City Folk buy 8+ acres and build your homes in the woods to raise your children and small pets then post "NO HUNTING" signs all over it ( In Wolfeze...that reads .." Restaurant open... all you can eat...") it becomes prime real-estate to them as well. I suspect all the land around the lakes in our part of PA will be their dinner table as well as the state game lands between seasons. Please recall those "No Hunting" signs for year round ( wolves do not hibernate but do get very hungry with snow on the ground ) feasting at your "Buffet".

Now all of you who "headed to the woods" to move out of the city... keep a watchful eye on yourselves. Coyotes eat anything, including carrion, garbage and bugs. Wolves kill their food.... not a vegan and will not eat roadkill. If they do.... they are sick, weak and dangerous. These canines are not small... unless you think a large Shephard is a lap dog.

I love nature.... especially when I know I am not on it's menu. I use to hunt bear but, the key word is hunt. I was well armed. a 30-06 can drop anything on the NA Continent but.... at home???? on my property, I don't tend to carry it and Ya'll wannabe county dwellers...well... wear a bell, carry a gun and pepper spray  ;D

How do you tell black bear poop from grizzly bear poop?   Black bear poop has grasses and berries in it, and has an “earthy” aroma.   Grizzly bear poop contains bells and gun barrels, and smells like pepper spray.                             :o  words to live by!!!!

Ive' been following the story of Candice Berner and regularly read the newspapers from Alaska. I lived there and part of my soul is still there. The wolves killed did not test positive for rabies either. Wolf attacks on humans are extremely rare and almost always occur against women and children. Candice Berner was under 100 pounds. It's tragic loss that hasn't been explainable the state biologists yet. The general rule of thumb up there is if you're going into the woods you better take something with you. If you're not junting you better make lots of noise too. Bears will avoid people whenever possible but if you catch them off guard you're going to be in a world of trouble. And fyi... a .357 will only piss off a brown/grizzly bear. You're going to need something with a lot more impact, believe it or not a .460 Weatherby is the best weapon to have according to the experts.

Anyhow I feel for the family. Sshe was young, living in a beautiful place doing something special and what she loved.

It would have been a different ending if that last desperation shot by Hayward would have gone in at the last second. It was in and out. So close!

Crunching bones...
People forget that we are "animals" too. We move into their territory, and expect them to tolerate us, or die for it.

Would it be such a story if ...well, maybe not a little girl... but say her father killed a wolf? No, because that is common. Killing bears, deer, trapping, causing pain and suffering from human to animal is very common, yet when they attack, it's not only uncommon, but newsworthy.

I don't like suffering in any form, though some among our species actually do, and those people, while not uncommon at all anymore, are also newsworthy. Usually it's an issue of control and dominance. And usually it manifests itself as cruelty towards animals and then on towards people.

When a man (or woman) can pick up a gun and go on a killing spree of innocent people, then they are no better than a sick wolf.

How sad for the innocent young girl. Truly a tragedy. But when one invades the space of another, potentially dangerous predatory animal, this kind of thing happens. When swimming in the ocean, the potential for a shark attack is always there, but you can't go and kill all of the sharks because of it.

Street gangs are a danger in our world, and in our prisons.

OMG, Puff.. seeing a Luna Moth is one of life's biggest pleasures!!! I envy you!!  The tree looks like a Norfolk Island Pine? Is it? Maybe a luna will come to one of my Norfolks when I put them out shortly.  FABULOUS pics, just FAB.
