....this story in today's Denver Post had me shaking my dome of chrome....

....the Chief Hosa area of rural Jefferson County, up in the high-county forested foothills west of Denver, is as much of a 'neighborhood', as CLW's place!!!!.....

....of course the same neighbor's don't mind when the rattling gun shot involves a fox eating the family cat, a bear breaking into their house, or a mountain lion munching on one of their neighbors not to mention a touching and meaningful experience w/the local fauna.....

Beautiful shot Puff.  On my way to work a couple weeks ago at a bit after 5 am, I saw 6 or 7 buck in a field together about a quarter mile down the road from my place......is that odd for so many men to be hanging out together?  I'd never seen anything like it.  I stopped and watched them for a minute.....they paid no mind to me at all.

There's a lot of wildlife out and about on the Ernst Trail on my commute to work in the morning. The turkeys are especially active round now.

From Gore's link to the elk hunting article:
Quote
"A woman answering Kreider's phone Saturday said Kreider, who has been hunting since he was 12, is a member of the local Elks club and has a permit to hunt on his property."

Apparently the Elks Club is something different than I thought? lol

Bucks gang up this time of year just before the rut. It is normal to see several bucks running together now until after November.   ::)

Really you have quite the sanctuary at your place! I'm jealous!

It is indeed a sanctuary. Mrs. Puff decided 7 yrs ago that this parcel next to the house, then in thick woods, should be opened up for wildlife, so that she could enjoy  nature from inside the house, or out on the deck.
I dozed it out and did some herbacide application to remove unwanted vegetation, and replanted in wildlife friendly forage, Added some corn feeders and mineral licks.
This A.m. we burned off the wheat stubble/straw, and will be planting wheat, and overseeding the clover patch ahead of tomorrows forecasted rain. Those crops will stay green and grow throughout the winter acting as a critter magnet.
The whole off limits to hunting. Per the Mrs, who keeps a pursuader handy for those who might not get the point!!!

There's a lot of speculation about why they did this.

Today is the unofficial birthday of google, which is now 12 years old.

The page itself is done in css3 and html5 which is the proposed next new way to perform web page markup and design.

Or it could just be google screwing around again.
