Facebook is eating the world. It has far eclipsed myspace, which has become a ghost town for everyone one except the teenage crowd. Of course facebook continues to get investors even though they have yet to buy pens with black ink in them. It makes me wonder what's in store for the long run there. If they go in the tank financially  someone will have to buy them. I think they are valued somewhere between 10-15 billion. Imagine that a company worth that much and it hasn't made a dime.  Bah, our elected officials look like "The gang that couldn't shoot straight" with our finances by comparison.

….almost have the new ‘mini-little-me’ computer up and running; I’m still remodeling the drawers on the lower right side of the bunker command-desk to accommodate the new larger printer/scanner/copier and am patiently waiting till all the wood work is done before firing that little puppy up….

….though, this afternoon took a break from the moseying-along retired-approach to the desk remodeling effort to do something I’ve never done before….

….I cracked open the old virally-terminated machine….

….if you haven’t had the opportunity to look at one, the mother board  inside is an impressive array of engineering and computer-controlled manufacturing ….

….I removed the hard drive- that’s the location of the bulk of all the data you likely  ever entered in your machine, and where in spite of  you “deleting it”, it still remains and it is not too forensically difficult to retrieve unless you take extraordinary measures….

…. cracked that puppy open; that shiny mirror-like disk on the right is where everything is recorded by that little triangular arm behind the screwdriver tip, &, again retained contrary to you thinking you deleted it….

….took it and the 3-pound sledge out back for some satisfying rapid dis-assembly- a 12-pole motor; very impressive!….

….brought the hard disk in and made introductions to Ms. Belt Sander….

….then laid a hefty deposit of ink deep in the abrasions on the disk….

….then did a little Chubby Checker twisting over on the vise….

….and finished wrapping things up with the 3-pound sledge….

….on the bike ride at lunch, we stopped at 7 different trash cans making a single deposit at each….

….I’m thinking we’re in pretty secure mode with that one….

…..maybe tomorrow we’ll take the propane torch the RAM chips….

Gore, that was AWESOME.  ;D

...and I might add, quite secure. The bike ride sounded fun though.

That should take care of pretty much anybody (except for the really scary spooks) in terms of making your data unavailable. I doubt you would keep anything that sensitive on your pc anyhow.

She's great.  She's home.  Spent last week in Alabama flying missions because of the bad weather in NJ.  She was able to come home for a week after she got back from the desert then out to OK for 5 days to hang with some friends.  She's in a very good, happy place right now.  How's your warrior doing

SIR GORE,  You would have had a lot more fun and saved time if you would have loaded up the bunker blunderbuss with 00 shot and blasted that beast to "puter heaven".

Had a bad day, did ya?

My dad once took his sledge to the family car. Wasn't pretty.

So I was driving to work and kept hearing this "thik thik thik" sound. I was wondering if it was one of the vehicles around me. I was eventually round nobody else and it was still there. I knew what it was and so I slowed down. It quickly turned into a "thump thump thump" as I got slower. Yep... flat tire. Do you think my spare had any air in it? No. So I go rolling my spare down the road to the nearest anything that had air. Which turned out to be a 7-11. I got air, rolled it back and discovered that I was not on a flat enough surface for the jack to work. I moved the truck and got the tire changed. This all took 90 minutes.

I hadn't changed a flat in over 20 years. I'm surprised I remembered how to do it.

I hope this is as bad as my day gets.
