So I was driving to work and kept hearing this "thik thik thik" sound. I was wondering if it was one of the vehicles around me. I was eventually round nobody else and it was still there. I knew what it was and so I slowed down. It quickly turned into a "thump thump thump" as I got slower. Yep... flat tire. Do you think my spare had any air in it? No. So I go rolling my spare down the road to the nearest anything that had air. Which turned out to be a 7-11. I got air, rolled it back and discovered that I was not on a flat enough surface for the jack to work. I moved the truck and got the tire changed. This all took 90 minutes.

I hadn't changed a flat in over 20 years. I'm surprised I remembered how to do it.

I hope this is as bad as my day gets.

I was exercising a few volumes of my colorful phraseology this morning starting at 6:20. I might also add that a floor jack is FAR superior to those little hydraulic phallus like things that come with the F-150's. They get the truck up there but there, but just barely. Good thing I don't have any over-sized tires on it or I'd still be there.

I just figured out it's been 25 years since I've changed a flat. Wow.

Thanks for reminding me NP: I need to check my spare, you know my commute, there ain't no 7/11's or ANYTHING, I would be stuck for sure...
 
similar but different story...If I told this already just ignore the telltale signs that dementia is setting in...
 
My car needed gas, I always wait until almost empty (bad plan) so I am between jobs and stop at the gas station. The machine tells me my credit card is not authorized. What? I have had the same account for 15 years, I used it yesterday! So I try another station, maybe they coded it for local zip codes or something....same thing. I swear I have an emergency card somewhere, but I can't find it. LUCKILY I was employee of the quarter and I won a $25Visa gift card and use that.
 
But I still don't have enough gas to get from where I work to where I live, and I don't have ANY cash on hand (bad plan #2)
 
So I go to my job at the Y, go to church, and then crash at my buddies house, all the time thinking "I don't have any money to get home". For some reason, they sent new cards and expired the old ones like 2 days after they hit the mailbox and the new card is 140 miles away, and I can eke out like 120 miles from my gas tank.
 
So I go to the Y last night and lo and behold, I have a check I could have cashed, and in my wallet, I find the emergency card.
 
I swear I'm going insane....but I have a full tank of gas now to get there.

Should have bagged it right there.  I get to work today on implementing two projects for other groups. Should keep me busy from 3 to 10 I'm guessing.  At least I get to do it from home.

I think people should buy their own condoms. And if you can't afford them, you probably can't afford the Mc D's pre-sex dinner date, or the pack of smokes for afterwards.
