Recycling Idea Needed
« on: November 16, 2009, 10:19:47 PM »
My 12 yr old crock pot gave out and I
tossed it. I still have the pot and the lid.
Is there anything I can do with it?  Can I
bake with it? It is a ceramic pot with a
glass lid. I hate to throw it away but am
unsure as to what I can actually do with it.

Does anyone have any recycling tips that
they have found particularly useful lately?
I am all about saving my pennies right now...
I guess that will never go away!

Speaking of saving pennies, I am out of touch
with the world news and wondering what
everyone's take on the state of the
economy is...getting better, going to get
worse?
Thanks!

Grow some tomatoes in it

Give it to ShortCircuit and she will smash it into bits and make beautiful inlaid furniture with it.

Use it store your pennies  ;D

As far as the economy...we need more people like yourself and lifefeedsonlife and we'll be alright...

I use my crock and lid in the oven all the time Olive.  It works great.   I like to do short ribs and sausage w/ kraut that way.  It's super for when you wished you had put something in the crock when you got up but forgot and now want the meal in a couple or so hours.  Or like tife said, put a plant in it!

Yep - keep it and cook with it! It'll conduct heat just fine.

And actually Tife - I'm bad for the economy! Tightwads don't help one bit!

My grandfather was a heavy drinker and
ended up with diabetes and lost both of
his legs. He was an ornary cuss. When he
finally died my grandmother memorialized him
by using his prosthetic legs (two sets, so 4 in all) to build a small table for her plants. It was creepy but she insisted that she recycle his old legs.

I cringe when I think of how much that
"table" cost! :)

OMG that's tooooooo funny!  But ya know what- I'll bet everytime anyone looked at the table they thought of him so it was successful.  :)
