Has anyone around here caught and survived the Swine flu?

my brother had it, he is fine. niece and two nephews too, they are fine. for some it was a hell ride, amidala nearly died, she is making her way through recovery now, thank god.

apparently it hits some in high risk groups. pregnant, asthmatics, certain age groups, some with cardiac insufficiency. others for unknown reasons.

today i was alerted to pennsylvania state h1n1 effort to vaccinate this weekend. there may be more areas, this was posted as a state reference. this weekends  is for the high risk groups only.   here is the website if anyone wanted it...

 http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/pennsylvania-department-of-health-to-offer-h1n1-vaccine-to-priority-populations-on-nov-20-21-and-22-70001867.html

and:

http://www.h1n1inpa.com/        the place to register is under "whats hot" on the right hand side.  also , corry high school is hosting a clinic tomorrow, check on wicu tv12 website for details, they are vaccinating all who request it, not just high risk groups.

looks like mike will finally get his shot this weekend. :)

I was in the hospital last week with a
number of non flu related health issues. They offered the vaccine to me and I took it. About 8 hours later I started a fever and have been VERY sick ever since. I am sorry that I got the
vaccine...and still on the fence about
whether or not to get the kids vaccinated.

Our kids got the nasal dose and didn't have any side effects. Neither of us have had the antibody. It seems to be in short supply despite the mass production numbers.

I havent had a cold or anything of the sort. I have not and will not get the swine flu shot. Way too many unanswered questions for me besides I am not a fan of having something injected into your body such as a flu shot and or the swine flu shot..I'll take my chances and if I become ill well I will have to deal with it for a week or so...I survived it back in '76 and hopefully will again.

Had the bug, came through fine.  We will NOT be getting the vaccines or the nasal mists.  no way no how.

if you have had the h1n1 flu then you would already have the immunity, it would be silly to get the shot.

I googled "where to get the H1N1 in Pennsylvania" and got this site. Hit the shot finder and came up with a number of sites around Crawford county. I can't vouch for it's accuracy, but for those on need give  it a try.

Been fighting sickness/flu for about 10 days
now and I lost my voice. I tried chicken
soup, vicks, throat spray, tylenol. alleve,
ibuprofin, gargling and such...any home
rememdies out there that you care to share
so that I can get my voice back and
enjoy some pain relief in my throat?

ZINC, Olive. I swear by it. Buy zinc lozenges and let them melt down slowly. The virus can't live where the zinc is so your sore throat will clear up quickly, and next time you even feel a slight sore throat coming on, use zinc lozenges.

It doesn't hurt to take a little zinc supplement in your diet and vitamin regimen too.

....chicken soup is always a good start; the more the merrier....

....lots of fluids; though not water- hydrating fluids are the ticket, but fake sugar-loaded "fruit-drinks''; I'm a sucker for and swear by DIET ROCK STAR energy drink....

....hot baths; the hot tub has saved by aging Colorado fanny more times than I care to remember; if no hot tube, pack something around the bathroom tub drain lever so you can fill it up with hot water and really soak....

....actiphed/some-similar sinus drying medication if you have post-nasal drip, always a troubling sign if left unattended....

....saline nasal washes 2-4 times a day are worth their weight in gold....

....followed by gargling with warm salt-water....

....both are S.O.P. after returning from a putz going out and interascting with the public!!!!...

....lots of rest under covers; stay warm....

....keep the feet, neck and head covered warm....

....zinc   lozenges are S.O.P in the mile-high medicine cabinet....
