National Fuel Gas seeking 23.6% increase.....
« on: January 05, 2010, 11:02:43 AM »
We went through this once before and thank God it didn't come true but my question...

In a time when... there is NO Cost Of Living Increase in many, many paychecks, the true value of homes are lower, and Foreclosures are rampant... why do we get increases in not just utilities, but also insurances ( Insured items..homes , cars etc.. value is lower now ) and things too numerous to really put to the list.

It is not that I will starve or freeze if the increases come in but.... there are those of you that live payday to payday and don't have the bling that I have seen within the community of Government dole displaying. When will this end??? Maybe when we all wait for the first of the month to make sure our card is refilled by Uncle Sugar. We will be where even private entities seem to want to send us... into a life of no worries and being taken care of in ALL aspects of our lives. Sometimes as much as the Business Community extoles the virtues of doing your own thing and earn.... they want to push you to the point you just drop out. That is not profitable for either side... no one pays taxes and then there is not enough to buy items we want but are deemed not to need. I am in the late fall/ early winter of my life here. I hope this isn't what the spring/summer portion of our society really wants. If they do... Soylent Green looks pretty good on the menu and a final meal a blessing.

The Herald had this article in their paper but it wasn't available on their website. Hmmmm but Meadville put it on there....

Don't blame "greedy utility companies" for this one. This is the projected cost of the raw natural gas (i.e., wild guess). NFG doesn't make a cent off this part of the bill; they pass it along dollar for dollar, up or down.

If you want to stop the increase, convince well owners not to charge as much.

And if you read the story, it says current gas prices are the lowest in 6 or 7 years. Didn't hear anyone complaining about that.

Obviously, they're in on the conspiracy.

I think this is a saign of the times more than anything. It odd that the costs of things keep going up but nobody has any money. If this money is real then somebody has to have it, right? I didn't take an economics classes in school so I can't really say that I understand the "system." Bleeding red ink does seems to be the latest craze sweeping the business and personal worlds these days.

Nat gas prices are tied to crude oil prices. The per barrel price of crude is up to $82 reflecting the  reality that it is winter time, and demand is higher. Thats the free market at work.
Another reality is that wages are not growing as fast as inflation. Thats a reflection of the fact that the economy has been slipping since 2002.
