Old Ly-Jore Hotel building being demolished
« on: January 13, 2010, 03:36:42 PM »
I noticed a few days ago that the old Ly-Jore Hotel building at the corner of Dock and Orchard is in the process of being demolished to make way for the Dock Street widening.  (A few other less substantial buildings in that area have already received the ball.)
This building has some history if I remember correctly, and I'm surprised that nothing's made it to the Herald.

Just found this on Google (it's from the obituary of the former owner)...seems it was quite the love shack back in the day.  ;)
"Along with her husband, [Lydia Regule] was a co-owner and proprietor of the Ly-Jore Hotel in Sharon, a family-oriented hotel during World War II. Many of the servicemen stationed at Camp Reynolds during their final week before going overseas stayed with their wives at the hotel."
