Huh? All the Hey Martha forums at dozens of newspapers were shut down because someone bought the Wave?

Huh? All the Hey Martha forums at dozens of newspapers were shut down because someone bought the Wave?

... ...That may have happened...but that is not what I heard...The Hey Martha's shut down...for the reason that everyone thought...there were threats of Lawsuits...Now I am not saying this is true...just what I heard...from a good source... ;) ...now for the Wave being Bought...and that may just be a Rumor...I am not sure about that one...but I was told that another resturant...were to Open there... ::) ...did not hear by Who or Whom...if this were True...

Someone bought the Wave building?  GASP!  Didn't anyone tell the buyer that "the location is no longer conducive to support a profitable business"?!  It was printed in the Herald, so it MUST be true... ::)

are we sure this "purchase" isn't just a transfer to some creditor?

Otherwise, who wouldn't realize that it's such a non-viable business location that a thriving restaurant would rather close and go into exile  than spend another day there.

the Business part was bought out by four people...with no plans to move into the old building...the latest rumor is that they want to move into the old Holiday Inn... ;) ...

I believe the 4 new owners part happened months ago, maybe a year.

I've heard the old Holiday Inn rumor, too, though i can't remember what the reason was that it might not be true. That location, based on the previous tenants, seems to be The Place Where Restaurants Go to Die.

Ah, interesting...and the rumor mill keeps on churning.

The old Holiday Inn (now the Quality Inn?) isn't exactly part of the bustling retail center of Hermitage, and Jayhawk's assessment couldn't be more correct.  From what I remember, it was some outfit called Antonio's for a while post-C.W. Dandy's, then Faraone Bros. (after several years downtown) moved there and was gone within months.  After that, it became Sghetti's (which moved from New Castle), but that also folded after a final desperate attempt to bring people in the doors by replacing fixed prices with a "suggested price range."

i don't know a lot about them nor did i ever eat there, but come to think of it Sghetti's -- which also fled a city center -- seems to have had a lot in common with the Wave. And interesting parallel.

Not to keep beating a dead restaurant horse, but any updates on the Wave?  Inquiries on its Facebook page have gone unanswered, and its street address on the Shenango Valley Chamber of Commerce website has been changed to a residential property in Sharon.  At this point, I wouldn't be surprised to see it retool permanently as a catering operation.

And would that outcome really surprise anyone?

Good question. I haven't heard anything whatsoever for weeks. There's a parallel mystery going on with the old Holiday Inn's restaurant spot... something about someone wanted to go in there but the previously occupied space also needed work (as in meeting code) before anyone could move in, which seems odd.
