Sharon sewer deadbeats
« on: January 27, 2010, 07:30:51 PM »
i see in in the paper that a judge finally clarified what was pretty obvious to most people all along: That the public has the right to know who's on the deadbeat list for sharon sewer bills.

Is anyone here shaking in his shoes over pending public exposure, or has everyone raced down to the city building and paid up?

Thank goodness this crap (no pun intended) is a done deal.  I don't want to bash the sanitary authority too much--they've done a lot of things a hell of a lot better than the city ever did--but frankly, in this instance they had a weaker case than Mel Marin.

Ahhhhhh love the announcement of those who have wells and septic tanks. Unless you are many miles from a municipal center, and don't have the where with all to have your own safety forces....What I see in the future...if you live in an area that relies on the human infrastructure of said municipalities..don't crow too loud. We are seeing communities who fire their police and have State Troopers do that and no money is paid at all..., we see municipalities with LESS funds to operate, looking for more $$$$ . Where do you think they are going to go?

I have seen communities expand in the Grove City Area who were FORCED to take Water, Gas lines, Sewer lines and service. Ask the poor schlub who HAD to pay tens of thousands of dollars on Sewer Frontage.

Not saying it will happen any time soon , just saying... don't kackle too loud.... people are listening. My son checked with a township supervisor on the possibilities of land he was thinking on buying would have that frontage charges of a sewer project. He said "Oh no way will that happen." My son bought and now there is chirping of expanding the Sewer lines outward toward his home.... hmmmmm that official is elected and not necessarily permanently and it behooves him to encourage more residents in his township. Be careful.

I'm in a unique situation for that. Subdivisions have sprung up around us that are all being put on water and sewage. The city does not want to tackle us because they will have to lock horns with the FAA over right of access. My neighborhood has aircraft taxiing up and down the streets and they have the right of way in all cases. If the city were to come in and set up equipment and not leave 25 feet from the centerline of the street clear they would have to answer to the FAA and possible even the NTSB over it. Water access has been a battlefront for years especially in the west for years (Ask Gore what it takes to sink a well in Colorado)

You are probably right in most cases though. The municipalities will force chemical laden water delivery and waste removal on many people and charge them handsomely to do it.

NP: do you do anything special with your septic? I heard a rumor that it needs pumped every 305 years....which I am coming up on living there that long.

RidX, thats about it for me....

I have always been on sewer so I am a bit perplexed...

I user Roebic (not sure on the spelling) It's a once a year thing, costs more upfront byt less in the long run. Your house is 305 years old? we only put small  food scraps and TP down the holes. Bleach is used sparing and rarely. That's all that we put down the hole besides waste.

No paper towels, napkins (of ANY kind) Just TP small food scraps.

We have one, we just don't use it too often. It'e easier to scrape plates anyhow. Garbage disposals are a pain.

I live in Sharon, The couple who owes 50K+ have been represented by Atty William Madden. Guess who has been the city's paid soliciter for the past 10-15 years?

I know.... but that will come to an end...one way or the other...seems like perhaps...CONFLICT of interest???? Madden may be expected to give up one position.... one that may pay LESS than 50k IF he wins or one that pays him a constant retainer fee.... which could bring in more with less work. I hope Bill does the math.

If Madden is in Retainer to the city ... and I think he is and was before this "CRAP" hit the fan.... and the owners of the property KNEW the "cost of doing business" in the city... I will let you guess what is going to happen.

I have NO SYMPATHY for these multi property owners whatsoever. I am not protecting city management over, not so right oversight. But... this will, again... slide the blade in even deeper, and twisting it doesn't help either. We are now front page news and I have to wonder... what other municipalities may have some "dirt" in their archieves that may be dug up as well. So.... don't laugh at Sharon too much.... time might be better spent checking your closets and strange lumps in your yards. :o

I might understand an outstanding bill for a single family dwelling used by it's owner and some back payments. They usually ...are just trying to make ends meet and survive... Sans a Council member and School Board member.... But...if you are in business buying, flipping, renting, and rely on Sec. 8 for your properties.... suck it up and quicherbitchen. Some of us are just trying to get by.... not over. To those who do rent out Sec. 8, maybe it is the state you have a bone with, being you are already charging the ceiling on your properties and the State set YOUR limit and you can't add the POOP TAX. I have seen the properties YOU rent under section 8 here in MY HOOD. you should be ashamed to charge $400-500/month for the rundown shacks you have already. You pay $10-15k for them and never put in much more than some drywall or cheap carpet. Rent them for 4 years and you have your money back and all you have left to pay is overhead. Then you move up.... buy multi units but never do upkeep or screen the drugdealer who rents between a single mother with 2 kids and an old couple on fixed income. All you know is...the money is green and the State of PA sends a check to your account. How do I know this???? We live/own in a home in your AO! (For those who don't know... AREA OF OPERATION). Now you want me to feel bad for you.... If you were on fire and I had a full can of beer in one hand and a full bladder to empty, you would get the benefit of neither. Now...should I go and tell you how I really feel??? PAY your damned bills and be done with it.
