High water time
« on: March 12, 2010, 10:29:08 AM »
Looks like the current weather is going to cause sufficient melting of the snow to cause French Creek to get to flood stage. So say NOAA anyhow. This image may or may not roll with the date or it may disappear altogether.

For more information on French Creek click here.

can you give me the address for that site.  tried looking under national weath service and noaa and didn't find that chart.   The Cussewaga fingers into our back yard and my husband is right now bringing everything up from the basement that he can.  The furnace and water tank are on blocks, and here is hoping that we don't get what they are calling for.

My sister is on Rogers Ferry Rd. too!  I think in the last three years that she has lived there, she hasn't had much of an issue, but it looks like this might be a problem.

If it stays at 15.9 crest we will have about a foot of water in our lower basement.  If it goes higher it will come into our upper basement and it will be more serious.  We will move the vehicles up to the road before tonight and disconnect the garage door (wrapping the sensors in plastic) hoping to avoid damaging them.  The furnace and water tank are on blocks.  My husband even put the canoe at the front porch just in case.  It hasn't started raining yet, so here is hoping that we don't get any more than they are predicting.

At 6:15 this morning it was at 13.47 ft. According to the graph versus  predictions it appears to be leveling off somewhat. It looks like an official flood stage may not  occur. It doesn't mean water hasn't escaped somewhere though.

Hope you're still dry Janet!

When I left Jersey yesterday, the rain was horrendous.....the wind uprooted a huge tree across the street from my brothers place landing just inches from his cars bumper.....and just a few feet from his front door about 30 minutes after we left.  We didn't get anything like they got near the coast thank goodness.

I don't know if the northeast is getting what we got or not. Thursday we had high winds an got 6" in rain in 2.5 hours. This, of course had to happen while I was driving home.

Boy did we luck out - never really got the heavy rain they forcasted.  No water in the basement.  We moved the wood pile for nothing.

Well, you were going to move the wood pile anyhow weren't you? That was the plan for over the summer wasn't it? Now you're already ahead of the game. Just trying to help you rationalize it.
