If it's true, how cool! There is supposed to be a press conference at 2:00 pm about it. Here's the link.

Interesting.

Tires to energy? Lotsa 'carbon sequestering' involved with that I'd imagine.

It's down by the old PPG location where the igloos are.

Did keystone go out of business after the city passed an ordinance banning ordnance? (sorry, couldn't resist)

It's down by the old PPG location where the igloos are.

.... the KOW was pretty much the entire hill top; quite the massive operation back in its day....

... I was 'fortunate enough' many years back in the indiscretionary yearsof youth to be able to 'tour' the inside of one of the revetted TNT production line buildings before they were demolished- you had to sneak in/out quite stealthy in as it was guarded pretty much right up until it all was torn out even after decades of abandonment- not exactly a safe place to prow inquisitively as one can imagine....

....though by then the 'high flying' quite long emergency evacuation/egress slides were long gone by then; they definitely would have been a thrill
:o ....

you can have the jobs, and the pollution that goes along with it.

Well - that's interesting. I'm going to be very interested in how they address said pollution. That area ain't so far from my home - and when the wid blows a certain way - well - I don't like the smell and residue from burning tires.

I do like electric lights though.

Let's see . . . .

Jeez, I don't think they are going to burn the tires out in the open unfiltered....

Unless everyoone wants to visit Meadville/Conneaut Lake for 'eco-tourism', SOMETHING is going to have to produce jobs in that area.

Hey, it can't smell as bad as Dads Dog Food...

...any new info on the jobs? Blue Collar, White Collar? What would a couple hundred jobs do for the area? Plus all the residual economic activity....It's funny how everyone turns into an environmentalist when they talk about putting these plants in your back yard.

Could things get any worse in the Meadville area? Any good news should be welcomed with open arms. These would be J O B S!!!!

You're right Tife.  If they are serious, they are going to do it right.  The KO has rules about what can be done there from what I understand.  I'll bet it's all right here online.  ;)

I guess we'll have to wait and see....the news tonight said they wanted to start construction by October...it took them three years to get nowhere in Erie...and the pollution is a great concern of mine, but since the DEP doesn't enforce when the coke plant has an illegal emission, I guess they won't care if the tire plant does...and I'm confused on the number of jobs...one place said "hundreds", the news release said 60....it would be nice to get something in there, once the ice has broken, I'm sure other industries would follow...since all the neighborhood seems to burn garbage all the time, we can't open the windows to smell the tires burning anyway....
