If it goes in successfully, there sure is a lot of open land (privately owned and going mostly unused) that would go up? down? in value and therefore go for sale? Are there laws/rules about certain things being within close range to the army base there I wonder?

The bunkers (igloos) are further down on the cross road Pest.  Spooky places btw.  They are talking more out by ppg-ish.

This article in todays tribune kind of gives a dispersion breakdown of the jobs the plant will create. I hope the developers keep some of the money local and don't send it all back to Erie County.

I say thank goodness it's not Vernon Twp. in charge.  They'd strike it down before anyone had a chance to say a thing.

I've heard the that Vernon can get real nit-picky about things. How true that is I don't know, but I've just heard...

There are a few, maybe ten, on Lake Road but there are a whole bunch on some side streets off Lake Rd.  A whole neighborhood of them.  The roads are named after the letters of the alphabet back there.  I find the place sorta creepy for some reason.   Some of them made some very creative changes converting them into homes and alot of them are garages/storage.

I lived out there in the late 70's and remember when they wanted to put in some kind of waste disposal on that property. They took up a petition and everyone went to a township meeting and it was shot down. I'm sure the EPA will have some bearing on if it goes or not. From what I remember the EPA approved it in Erie but the people shot it down. And yes it can't smell any worse than Dad's dog food plant

It would smell worse if it were a papermill. Nothing like the Tacoma Aroma.

I went to the meeting in Meadville on this new
project, as I was interested in finding out just why Erie has fought it so much.  One big factor
was about the railroad needed to be closer than
it could be done up there.

To answer the question about the number of jobs
that it will create, I believe they stated 600 people, but that is from start to finish to get it
in operation.  It will take two years to build, so
figure a couple hundred people, and I think he
said all union jobs.

One woman told Greg Rubino that she would fight
this project completely as she lives in that area.
I don't think she entirely understands just how
hard Pennsylvania makes it to own a business here.  There are so many rules and regulations,
that if it does get built, I take it that each and
every little will meet code.  Remember the word
"asbestos" that is now everyone's nightmare.
The wages for the 60 people would be around
$50,000.00 per year.

She probly smokes and eats doritos for breakfast too, lol.  Come on, I'm kidding.  I'm just sayin' that people need to hear all sides involved out before making a stink.  I'm real close and the thought of what it could do to the air concerns me immensely.....but I will wait and see what they have to say.

Projects of these type are always under the scrutiny just about everyone. Yes, there a good reason for it. Ko-Shin, that area has been tagged an industrial park for at least 40 plus years. The industrial thing never materialized like Mr K would have liked it to.

That being said, I'm sure that there will be many watchful eyes insuring the crossing of all the T's and dotting of all the eyes takes place. Moreover, because of the nature of the facility it will be under intense scrutiny from construction through its eventual decommissioning, whenever that may be.

So if these jobs are 50K per  year jobs that's a good thing right? If there are ancillary jobs outside the plant that are created, that's even better. There's landfills full of tires all over the country that are not ecologically sound and a huge fire hazard so there is some benefit ecologically to turning this thing up. Yes there's probably better use they could be put to, like converting them to rubberized asphalt but this isn't that bad of a proposition.

For those of you that are internet researchers I'll give you all a head start. Here's a list of all the tire burning facilities in the US. It's not new technology and I'm sure this facility will probably get the latest technology. Something else to add to the list of things received by this.

For those of you that don't want to see this the opposition site is here.

So I hope everyone weighs the options before they take sides. It appears there is a LOT of give an take going on with this project before the plans to relocated it even happened.

That's all from this corner.
