Garden talk & ideas.
« on: April 06, 2010, 06:21:59 PM »
I am moving my rhubarb patch and the plants need to be split up. I have a lot of plants to give away if anyone is interested in having some. They make delicious pies and sauce.  :)

I have plenty of space for rhubarb (sp) if no one else wants it.  My garden is HUGE.

Janet, I can get at least 8-10 eyes from a plant and I have three big plants left = 30 some eyes and they are perennials and  over time can create many more plants. You need to split them up every so often like maybe every 5 or 6 years because the stems get skinny. Now is the time to plant them. How many would you want Janet? I will deliver them to you. :)

I will take whatever you have. Wish I could meet you and Pest tomorrow for breakfast but I am working.  That is a good thing, but a bad thing that I can't sit down with both of you and catch up.  Let me know - I am in Meadville - and I can pick them up at your place if you need me to.  I remember that you live on the same street as my sister.

Meadville Farm & Garden has a great lettuce seed which is a mix of different kinds.  I planted this just last week and look forward to the variety.

Wish I had room for a big garden. Well, I have room but I would have to cut down my trees to do it and I'm not ready for that.  Decisions, decisions...

I have room for a really large garden to feed all the local deer, racoons, possums, birds and a host of other things I can't even mention. I may try again this year though.

Pumpkin patch, hanging tomatoes, carrots, zucchini, romaine, spinach, green beans, broccoli and onions.  I'm getting a late start.  Winter had me wondering if Spring would actually come.  It's all good though.  Watching the amish....when they till, I till.  (Some of them have started but only the ones doing big fields of corn and hay....not their personal food gardens.)

I do plant onion plants and lettuce, carrots, and radishes now but there is still a lot of time. I will get two or three plantings of these things normally. I don't plant the rest of the garden until around Memorial Day.
