The article was noticably short on details. Was there a personal connection between victims and suspect? Small town papers!

Gee, maybe the cops don't want to tip their hand and jeopardize their case.

But don't worry. Nothing remains a secret for more than just minutes in a small town. Ask your neighbor. And tell them to call the paper and give them the full story.

This may be true about jeopardizing the case but nothing was said after Wilyie's arrest about investigation continuing? Now they have him on tax evasion so they must be doing something.

Obviously, you are not from a small town.  In this
area, nothing remains a secret for more than just
minutes after something happens.

i DO come from a small town. What the original statement indicated was less that they had the facts and more that they were jumping to rumor-fueled conclusions that the two crimes were related. After all, were they right?

People who truly feel for the victims shouldn't make matters worse by by pretending to know the real story.

Being from this small town, and knowing both
families, it wasn't hard to find out what was
the back-story leading up to the murders.  This
one is particularly hard when I know both families,
and parents are not supposed to bury their
children.  I didn't mean it the way it was taken
about you obviously not being from a small town,
but both Conneaut Lake and Linesville are
notorious for word getting around fast.  I am truly
sorry that I worded it the way I did which
insulted you.  Now we have to pay to keep this
little bastard in jail, feed him, and give him a fair
trial.  I truly believe in an eye for an eye type of
punishment.

And sorry if i took offense too quickly.

Yeah, that's one of those darned annoying things about that stupid, ol' Constitution: You have to give people a fair trial before you hang 'em. Why not just skip that bothersome step if the public already believes he's guilty?

Regardless of what the public thinks everyone has to go through "due process". There's a lot of people in prison who should not be and there's also a lot who somehow got a not guilty verdict that should have been planted by now. (Yes, I believe in capital punishment)

Well said Wanda! This Wiley is a piece of s__t and we have to pay for his sorry a__ in jail. Whatever came down on this deal, these two people didn't have to lose their life. This is what drugs do to people and innocient people like Laurie get caught up in it.  So sad! :(

In your opinion, is capital punishment and the death penalty the same thing?  I guess that
my biggest problem with this whole case is that
two beautiful families will never see Todd and
Laurie smile again, laugh again, etc.  Parents
are not supposed to bury their children, and
for Laurie's wonderful Mother to be part in
finding her in the condition she was left in, THAT
BREAKS MY HEART.

Yes that is heartbreaking. I don't know how Ruth kept her sanity or didn't have a heartattack or stroke through this. She is a wonderful person and she is up there in age. Infact both Laurie and Tod come from wonderful caring and giving familys. It just makes me MAD!!

Before this whole nightmare began, I never heard of this creep Wiley.  Is he from this area, and if
not, what is his background?  Wife, kids, parents?
I don't even know if I am aware where his car
shop was located.  If he had as many marijuana
plants that was printed, that may mean that we
just got rid of one of the suppliers to this area.

Gary's shop in on Linesville Conneautville Rd. about a mile and a half North of Linesville.

The tragedy of all of this extends to Gary as well. It's been about 10 years now but he used to do inspections for me. At that time he was just a hard workin' guy trying to make his business go.

He was a personable fellow at that time and he did his best to do a good job. It appeared to me he would do well and fix cars as long as he wanted to stay in the business.

How things unfolded from those days to the tragic circumstance he finds himself in today is a story that is yet to be told.

If Gary Wiley is convicted of the murders he will probably never draw another breath as a free man, which is how it should be.

My point is everyone involved has lost. It leaves the rest of us asking, "How did this come about and what can be done so it never happens again?"

I have a question - and I mean this seriously.  Not being flippant or ignorant.  While swimming this morning at my YMCA class a woman mentioned that a good friend of hers is a police officer and he said that he would never let his children attend Linesville schools or would ever live in Linesville.  That the drug problem is worse there than anywhere else and I was shocked.  I always thought of Linesville as a sleepy little town.  Am I missing something?

He took my SIL's catylitic converter off her car when she took it there for repair. She didn't know it til she took it to another place for inspection and was told it was gone. They are worth around $100.00 I guess. New one is much more.

There is a State Policeman living in Espyville and two of them in Shermansville. I think they are close to Linesville for many reasons.  ::)

Gary did work for us man years ago.  No problems.  He worked part time for my husband many years ago when he had a small business.  Really easy going guy.  I liked him well enough.  Dependable.  In the winter, Mr Who did snow plowing on the side cause business was slow.  Gary always showed up at 4 am to plow no problem.  My younger sister went to HS with him.  Although it has been quite some time since we have have had any contact with the guy, I am really surprised what has become of him.  You just never know where life will take you......
