Need Pool Advice
olivebranch:
We are thinking about purchasing a pool this summer. We are leaning towards one of those round ones that has a steel frame that will last a few years. Is it better to go thru a dealer? Can you just get a good quality one in the stores and put it up and expect it to last? Cost is an issue and we want to get the most bang for our buck.
Does anyone have a retailer to suggest if we need to go that route?

I would recommend a dealer. There are a LOT of things that you need and don't realize you need and you need an expert to help you out. Just the chemical mix can be a nightmare.
I shopped around on the internet and the dealers pices were still competitive or better, and it's much more convenient. They will also do water sample analysis for you so you can keep the grunge away before it gets out of control.

In the past 10 or 15 years, 3 of my close neighbors have installed above-ground pools, one of them particularly large with a fancy deck.
The big one was removed last year, another one just came down last month, and the third will sit unused again this season. Apparently the novelty wears off quickly.

Frankly, there just aren't enough hot, dry days around here to justify having a pool at home IMO...especially when there are perfectly good public pools--not to mention natural bodies of water--available nearby for that purpose.

YOU GOT A POOL???? ;D
Post your address please *S* ;)
Hmmmmmm is there a "P" in pool? *S*
Seriously, good luck. I have one friend who plowed in his in-the-ground and another who is planning the same. They would rather mow it than clean and feed it. Like a boat.... the two happiest days are when you buy it and the day it comes to an end/or sold.
