We had a problem with drunks sneaking into the YMCA pool and there was a 10 foot chain link fence and flood lights. drunk is drunk. I would catch them when I OPENED the Y at 4:30AM.

Probably for the same reasons the convertables fell of in sales. Plus we don't really have the weather for one. I've had my top down maybe three time in the last three years. ::)

I used to have a Jeep Wrangler. It was cumbersome to unzip it and take it all apart for the "convertible" days, so I seldom did. Mr. Zip usually put it all back together for me. I really do miss it though, I loved having a Jeep. Ddin't like feeding it though.... when gas prices got higher it was time to change.

T-tops used to be real popular, now you never see them. Why is that?

Well the pool project will be on hold...by the time we get the water, sand for the bottom, chemicals, the pool itself and the darned city permits we are way over budget...even with hubby putting it up. We are going to refocus and do some things to the house and the yard and have a small slow up pool that we empty out every night...then buy the pool kit this fall when the dealer is trying to get rid of excess merchandise...I see that a lot of them go on sale in the fall...or so I recall...sigh...was really hoping for a good time this summer...

You could get passes to the MARC for swimming this summer... though there's no privacy.

Zip--we do get them every year...problem is that I get our of work too late in the summer to really enjoy it during the week...they close so early. I am a big fan of swimming in the evening when the sun is not so strong and after work when the old bod needs some relaxation. It is ok...but swimming on our own terms--well that is something that I have been dreaming about since I was a little girl...having my own pool. Ah well--one more year to wait is not so bad.

Me too, but I want a lap pool, long but narrow to get the best exercise benefit from it. With the weather we have, it is difficult to justify the expense unless you could bubble it and use it for the winter too, or build it indoors like some have.

The Pool at the Days Inn is nice, hard to do laps in because they generally have the deep end roped off, but you can definitely get some exercise in.

Why not get an endless pool? They are only made for swimming. I ahve a friend with parkinsons and he uses his daily. There's a lot of manufacturers of these types of pools out there. They aren't a play/relaxation pool though. See what I'm talking about here.

A lot of my triathlon buddies up north have an endless pool. Right next to the traeadmill and bicycle hooked up to a trainer. They come out of the winter fitter than any of us porkers down here!
For the price of an endless pool I can install an inground. I am still in the process of rebuilding my above ground. I repaired thewhole caused by the armadillo that caused 14000 gallons of water to create a gorge underneath that portion of the pool sidewall. The next piece is to replace the liner, seal around the new fittings and gaskets, start putting water in it and smooth out the wrinkles....one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life!  ;D  Then I just pray that the pump didn't burn out when all this happened.
Then I get to watch the kids enjoy the pool for the summer. Worth every ounce of energy.

Done with the repair and dis-assembly. Possibly install the liner tonight. I actually have access to the Y pool, but like Olive said, it's nice to relax on your terms and hours.
I realized that the last job in the world I want is 'above ground pool repairman'. But alas, that title falls under my duties as the resident 'daddy' in the house (Daddy can fix ANYTHING!) yea....just tired....
