Oil Spill

TiFeMb:
Anyone have an opinion? It looks real bad for the gulf right now. I don't care about the beaches as much as I do the fragile ecosystems that provide much of the US with cheap and plentiful seafood.

It just sickens me to see the pictures. I honestly can't look.

The dead zone at the mouth of the Mississppi ain't good either. I'd read they have one leak stopped.

I thought the government's response to such a disaster was supposed to be a burn?

NightmarePatrol:
Unfortunately it's pretty much up to the wind right now. I don't think there's any really good information on where its really going to land. No matter what, we're screwed. I wonder if the environmentalists think Bush was any smarter now because he refused to let go of those offshore leases.

modern:
Seems in 1994 they were suggested to get the booms.  Sad that there was only one in the United States and we have to purchase/borrow from other countries.

NightmarePatrol:
Well, two things have been reported:

1) The "top-kill" process has stoped the oil... for now
2) The Gulf oil spill has eclipsed the Exxon Valdez in terms of oil volume that escaped into the water.
