fracking-in-pennsylvania

I don't know if you remember ThelmaLou who used to post on HeyMartha, mostly on the Indiana sites, but sometimes Meadville.
She lost her home water well to fracking contamination, and now has to have water trucked in. She told me there was no fix to the problem.

Interesting that this article popped up on veteranstoday.com. I really don't know what to make of this because as the logistics of doing this would pretty huge. No matter this rumor/leak/conspiracy theory about performing a burn off seems to be getting some legs.

I just don't know how they'll pull it off.

With the Crystal River Nuke plant they have an evac plan in place. Maybe thtas a play on that.

BP is lying again. It has to work. PRAY. It's not just the gulf now, but the keys and the Atlantic if this doesn't get capped.

There s a lot of misinformation being passed around regarding the "incident." Much (read most) of what we get has been filtered, screened and diluted. There are also a LOT of personal accounts from people about what they see and experience. However, like what the press is feeding us, which BP feeds them is mostly a personal viewpoint of the individual posting about the spill. So thebottom line for me is I really don't know what to believe and what not to when it comes down to it. The conspiracy theorists are having quite a field day with this too. They make some good points, but again.. they too see what they want to see and tell us only that.

So going on the premise that there isn't a trillion ton methane explosion in the gulf or we aren't all poisoned by benzene and survive until a ripe old age the truth will eventually come out, or not. Maybe at least in part anyhow.

Thats an understatement!! It appears there are 2 schools of thought on this. That this is an enormous political problem with engineering consequences, or an enormous engineering problem with political consequences.
I favor the latter. The only source of relevant, timely and informative information that I have found on this is the daily press briefing given by Admiral Thad Allen on C-Span.I have attached the link below of todays conference. 30 minutes of info that you havn't heard before in the press, with what is being done, why, and what are the expectations and hoped for milestones, and why there was a hold put on the test this morning, and that the test will resume today.
By the way, until they start the test, they are still capturing oil as before.

here's the link.

Fortunately they have stopped talking about oil in the current loop as they do not expect this to happen now.

Looks like they have their issues resolved now and are going to proceed with the test. Say a prayer folks.

My thinking on the delay was, how much worse can it get? I mean, the oil is already gushing unimpeded into the gulf. If the pipe is compromised, it's compromised. Either keep sucking up as much as you can or finish the relief well.

Remember how we thought the August date for the completion of the relief well was SO far out?  ::)

Of course I'm praying...every day.

Here is todays press briefing from Adm Allen. (31 minutes) Extremely informative, and TiFe he addresses the relief well timeline and such.

I would say that the large majority of us understand the need to wean ourselves from foreign oil. However what does that mean exactly?
Here is some data I collected about gulf oil drilling. For just the  33 deep water platforms that Pres. Obama stopped drilling. A decision now in court. Who own them. It's surprising!!!

20 of the 33 are foreign owned. Thats 60%
So assuming the oil they recover goes to the U.S., and the revenue for that oil goes to the producer/country, how does that wean us from foreign oil.

The detail. Company/#of wells/nationality

Statoil  2 wells  Norwegian
Chevron 2 wells U.S.
Anadarko 3 wells U.S.
Hess 1 well  U.S.
Noble 2 wells Swiss
Shell 5 wells Netherlands
Marathon 3 wells U.S.
LLOG explorations 1 well U.S.
ENI 3 wells  Italy
Walter oil 1 well  U.S.
BHP Billington 2 wells Australia
BP 2 wells British
Petrobras 1 well  Brazil
ATP  1 well  U.S.
New Field 1 well U.S.
Devon BP 2 wells British
Nexen 1 well  Canada

here's the link for that info

It looks like it's capped. Thank God. We need to ressurect our renewable/sustainability thread. But for now, no oil flowing for the first time in 85 days.

It's only a test so far, the solution isn't permanent... yet anyhow.
