Great site. I love the blogger's uninhibited freedom to discuss differences, embrace the diversity, all the while poking fun at all of us.

LOL on  the Holiday Inn. No it's called Wildwood Acres. Sitting around the campground with plenty of good people sharing stories, drinking some beverages and not having to drive home and getting a DUI. We love it.

I was suprised when I moved down south that it was normal to 'camp' in an RV or pull along, and campsites all had electricity and a bathroom with running water and showers.
Growing up in Meadville as a boy scout, we thought camping at Woodcock, Tamarack or Pymatuning was 'kiddie kamping'! We were used to hiking anywhere from 5 to 20 miles into the woods and setting up camp complete with a working latrine. We used to stay up IN Greendale as well as in the woods behind Greendale (across the ravine, not in it LOL) on the weekends and didn't even call that camping, that was just 'hanging out'.

I won't primitive camp down here though. two words: FIRE ANTS. Wait, one more: MOSQUITOS.

some of my more memorable campouts were in the wild areas along the cliffs of Lake Erie, PA side and NY side. We also camped along the Niagara river (Canadian side). Beautiful.

When my kiddos get a bit older (and listen better) I want to take thm for a month out to the national parks, at least primitive camp for part of it.

Funny, I camped in Alaska with a loaded gun because of the high potential for bear (and mosquito) encounters I won't camp down here because of the fire ants and the huge population of cottonmouths in the county I live in.  The skeeters down here aren't too bad here when compared their Alaskan counterparts.

I like to camp once in a while, but it ain't happening for my wife. Maybe when the kids get a little order we'll head into some easy to camp places where one doesn't have to haul water and everything else in. I want their first experience to be good... not back-breaking.

I'm with rubarb.  Got the RV with stove, shower, toilet, heat and AC.  Screw primitive camping.

Tif that is probably because you would either die from the hot nights or be miserable from the monster mosquitoes.  Although I did camp in the mountains really primitively once and nearly froze to death!

My boyfriend has an old Winnie that someone gave him.  We want to video tape it and send it in to Pimp My Ride!

Right on CLW. We have a permanent site at Wildwood and four of us went together and now we have Direct TV. I can go in the camper and curl up to a good movie. :)

Y'all are making me feel like a troglodyte. I've never been camping in an RV. Hardly any place I've even been camping isn't even accessible by an RV. It sounds pretty cushy though.
