Proposition 8
NightmarePatrol:
I'm surprised this has not come up for discussion yet. I'm pissed about proposition 8. Not because it permits gay people to engage in domestic partnerships that are considered legally binding but because of this: Proposition 8 went to ballot in the state of California. It came back from the polls a resounding "no" when all was said and done. Yet with but a stroke of the pen a judge has dismissed the public answer to the voting public. The entire democratic process was derailed by one person. To me this issues is not about Proposition 8, but what has been done to the system by the system.
Lifetime:
It has become the practice over many years to see crossover of the powers of the three branches of our Government.
Executive.... has overused the power of Executive order
Legislative... Has not actually represented the will of the people more than the sum of it's 535 parts. It's law MAKING ability has been squandered.
Judicial... Seems to think it is there to make laws.... referring to the Legislation allowing Judicial to userp it's powers and MAKE law.
If you haven't seen this with Legislators and reacts at Town Hall Meetings. Judges circumventing votes and laws. And a POTUS who seems to have no real clue how a majority of the population must feel or even how they live..... then there is an epidemic of "DEAF,DUMB, and BLIND" in our country.
I agree...a stroke of a pen now negates the vote and will of the people....
Jayhawk:
Segregation was once the will of the people, too, before that darned activist supreme court put an end to it.
If only Reagan hadn't appointed that liberal judge in California...

Lifetime:
Hmmmm refer to the Buttbrains in the House and Senate who think it is Constitutional for Washington DC to have voting Representatives and Senators... DOH.... In the Constitution, that right is only given to STATES.
