I'm sure it's all budget related. At the rate things are going (my wife and I joke about this occasionally) we'll get a note asking us to send toilet paper to school.

Why not, we already have to sent Kleenex, wipes, hand sanitizer and a long list of other things. Each child has two full bags of stuff we drop off at registration/meet your teacher day.

I see ten states are getting waivers on the NCLB. Interesting move.

If you get the Tribune, my daughter is in there for competing at PJAS with Seton at Penn State.  She placed 2nd for a project involving whether horses are auditory or visual learners.

Very cool, congrats to her for what was probably a very involved project for someone that age.

So... are horses auditory or visual learners?

Definately auditory.  Mostly because of the placement of their eyes.  Their feild of vision is narrow while their ears are large and rotate.  It doesn't matter if their head is in control in a bridle either.  While riding they respond better to voice commands

rather than being kicked or tugged at.  While they are in free range mode they responed much more often to sound (pleasant and not so pleasant) than anything visually.  The variable was missing (cause she died) which was throwing a very young horse in the mix against the older, experienced horses.  Auditory.  By a mile.
