Conneaut Lake Historical Society
« on: October 05, 2010, 11:57:43 PM »
The Conneaut Lake Historical Society is in the running for a $25k grant from the Pepsi Refresh Everything project. The top 10 projects in each category will win.  We've slipped from #61 to #65.  Please vote daily at:

http://www.refresheverything.com/conneautlakehistoricalsocietyimprovements

Funds will be used to paint the building, replace the roof and furnace and for other needed repairs.

You may vote for up to 10 projects per day.  If you leave comments on other projects they will return the votes to us.  Thanks!

I'm not sure who's running the Pepsi refresh grant but I'm the "Julie A." who's been voting and commenting every day from the Northwestern Community Youth Center.  We have asked our supporters to use one of their remaining votes for you folks as well, we hope you'll return the favor!

(BTW, we're in the Albion just up Rt18 from you folks, not the Albion they have us at on the map!)

If anyone is interested in helping us by returning votes, click http://www.refresheverything.com/nwyouthcenter or text 102945 to 73774 - We're at #85 in the 50K category, so voting for us isn't hurting you folks any!!

Good luck!! We're pulling for you guys!

Hey Scooter, welcome to the site. There's a whole section on Erie County too. Of course you are Eric County resident #1 AFAIK.

Thanks for the warm welcome, folks!  I've been lurking around for over a year now (sorry about stealing the name, Pest, but it's been my nickname for a long time!)  I'm proud to be Erie County resident #1!  I voted for the Blue Streak for both months, and I've been voting right along for the Conneaut Lake Historical Society.

I guess my real tie-in to Conneaut Lake is that I spent an awful lot of my summers at CLP (one of the first things I did when my now-husband came to meet my parents was drive him down and show him the park) and my Junior prom was held in the hotel's ballroom, and my senior prom at Stable Pit n Pub.  You folks are just a hop skip and a jump away from us, and the drive down (we take 18) is beautiful, especially this time of year!

Now that I'm out of the (lurking) closet, I'm sure I'll be posting more :)  Thanks again for the warm reception!

Hi Scooter!  I've been voting daily for your Northwestern Youth Center project (50k) in Albion too!

http://refresheverything.com/nwyouthcenter

There's also a $250k project in the running to rebuild Florida's oldest wooden coaster.  They supported the Blue Streak, now it's our turn to help them!

Please keep voting for the Conneaut Lake Historical Society Museum improvements on the Pepsi Refresh Everything website.  They're at #101 in the 25k category and need to be in the top 100 to return for voting in December.  Thanks!

I have no idea who thinks this kind of advertising would ever work.
...and this post will seem incongruent when NP finds the above post.

As a lifetime Conneaut Lake resident, it is really an honor to have such a
beautiful and interesting Historical Society in our community.  They have
a real committed group of members, and the painting on the side of the
building was done by a woman from Conneaut Lake.  If any visitors come to the Lake this summer, it is worth your time to visit this museum.  They are so deserving of a Pepsi grant.  They took an old
building and slowly turned it into a jewel of the town.  Everyone, please
help vote for them, the money will definitely go to good use.

....just a hunch-

....she didn't contribute to their 124th place finish anytime recently....

Do you really believe that Pepsi is the only way they can get funding?  I
am trying to explain to followers on this thread that there is more to do
in Conneaut Lake than they may realize.  The Historical Society is worth
the visit, and some people may even donate while they are there.  Also,
the new Ice House Park gives a whole new dimension when heading into
Conneaut Lake from the Meadville exit.  We live in an exciting area, and
it is a great area because of people who volunteer their time and money
to make it great.  What would you prefer to see when coming into the
Lake on 322, a half-fallen in dinor, or a beautiful park that have several
benches to sit and enjoy the beauty of the lake, which, by the way, is
one of the only public areas left to get the full effect of our lake.  The
Pepsi grant is great, don't get me wrong.  However, would you rather get one check in the mail, or several thousands of people coming in and
supporting many businesses.

…thanks for asking, Dear…

….we don’t believe, we know that

-clearly speaks volumes for itself and further obfuscation is clearly

….further self-serving obfuscation ….

….obviously….

….again, thanks for asking, Hon…

….we would much rather have  up-to-date factual information as to how to actually be helpful , and not be subjected to gross out-dated mis-information resulting in costly mis-direction ….

….of course-

…..readers are encouraged  to stop by and chat with the ex-newsprint-reporter Jean at the museum -

….and likely be rewarded with a hearty chuckle or two regarding the infamous history routinely portrayed herein
;D ; definitely would be worth dropping a buck or two in the donation jug; but then a membership only costs $5 a year ;) ….
