Here is a thought.....
« on: December 15, 2010, 08:45:20 AM »
Well....we have established that the United States is FAT, MORBIDLY OBESE, Has FAT KIDS...hell even our POOR are FAT..( Hey I can say that because I cast a big shadow  ;)  ) ... We are worried about the PORK in our BILLS but we never seem to question our $4.5 BBBBBBillion hunger free kids act.....So...let me see... We use to have the school lunch program when I was in school. It amounted to bringing your OWN LUNCH to school or spend $1.50 a week to have lunch in the cafeteria. Oh My... then we went to FREE LUNCH ...then FREE BREAKFAST and now FREE DINNER???? What in hell are the parents doing here???? SO... now you have say.... 4 children in school and they get 3..read THREE meals FREE at school...now add to that..... a cost cutter.... IF YOU RECEIVE FOOD STAMPS for the WHOLE Family, shouldn't there be a reduction of food "stamps"??? After all, we don't want FAT KIDS to BECOME FAT ADULTS, leading to early death and over sized coffins and urns????

So 2 (two) systems will be in place to feed the kids....TWICE? I didn't read this Bill and I can bet I am not the ONLY one  ;) ... I am so sick and tired of having to take on the responsibilities and costs of families NOT mine and THAT money comes out of MY pay before I even spent one dime on MY kids, MY wife, MY home, MY bills....and my ...listen closely... MY RESPONSIBILITIES and BILLS.

I am trying to figure in a new roof, and some things I NEED for MY home. I am trying to figure out MY CHRISTMAS for MY Family and I will end up giving BEFORE that can happen. I don't want to hear...this is "for the CHILDREN". Thought should have been put forth before the sexual act was performed....I am sick of having responsibility being dumped on myself and people like myself for other's RESPONSIBILITIES before I spent ONE DAMNED DIME on my OWN.

I am not unsympathetic to REAL problems that have an HONEST reason. I give what I can to MY Choice. We need to actually examine these problems on an individual basis and not lump. Some of the reasons why a CHILD is not fede is.... WELL if you have to think TOO long.... you are fooling yourself. LAZY PARENTS/PARENT...Pack a damned Lunch the night before... My mother did. If you can't feed 'em, you don't need 'em. Be responsible for your own actions and reactions. I have seen POOR in my life... A Dirt Farmer Uncle as well as being in foreign countries. What I found was that my uncle made sure his 5 kids were fed and taken care of...and even in the Countries I have seen, they have a sense of Family responsibility...even to the eldest.

Well let me fall off the soap box and sign off.... this is just MY own thoughts... I am just tired of feeling someone elses hand in my pockets because they won't step up or at least attempt to.

….gotta love the free meal/food stamp irony-

….free pre-school meal, free lunch, free-after school meal, and now-

... I read that included in the bill, now free meals during the not-in-session school summer months….

….yet only 5 states mandate physical education in their school programing….

….fortunately, I also read in the bill, the Feds now mandate what food items can and can not be donated to and sold at a fund-raiser bake sale, as well as how often a school can hold bake sales….

I don't have an issue with feeding the kids. I have an issue with what our kids are being fed. At the elementary school my kids go to there is a tiny kitchen where... nothing is cooked. What happens back there? They reheat and defrost pre-prepared processed food. My kids have their lunch packed for them because they don't like the food at school. The only exception if Friday because it's pizza day. I occasionally go to the school and have lunch with my kids and what I see kind of disturbs me. Aside from the cafeteria food I see kids being sent to school with prepackaged crap from the grocery store. I can only assume their meals at home come from a box or a bag of some sort.

So what has happened? The people have let themselves be enabled by who? To have what happen? Who benefits from this? Not the kids, that's for sure. I can't say for sure exactly how all this came to be, but the food industry has filled a need and is profiting quite nicely from it. The politicians probably saw it from a different point of view where they knew this was a "better way." The school administrators say more funding and jumped on it. It got made for everyone because the few could not do it for themselves. Maybe the money could have been better spent by taking care of the few that were having difficulty rather than hosing up the entire system. But then again there's not a lot of profit in that is there?

Of course this is my POV as an outsider to the system. I know there are lots of kids that go to school without being fed, clothed or rested properly. There are lots of programs to help those in need and that's a good thing because the kids should not suffer just because their parents are idiots. But rather than tailoring the programs to a one size fits all and spending even more money, why can't we just take better care of the kids that need it?

I'm rambling... I'll stop.

Lifetime... stop winding me up.

....then, don't read this-

....on the same train of gubber-mental thought-

of the new $1.1 TRILLION 1,924 pages long Congressional Budget-

....Senator McCain read into the Senate record a few of the  nearly $8.3 billion 6,488 earmarks  :

$277,000 for potato pest management in Wisconsin
$246,000 for bovine tuberculosis in Michigan and Minnesota
$522,000 for cranberry and blueberry disease and breeding in New Jersey
$500,000 for oyster safety in Florida
$349,000 for swine waste management in North Carolina
$413,000 for peanut research in Alabama
$247,000 for virus free wine grapes in Washington
$208,000 for beaver management in North Carolina
$94,000 for blackbird management in Louisiana
$165,000 for maple syrup research in Vermont
$235,000 for noxious weed management in Nevada
$100,000 for the Edgar Allen Poe Cottage Visitor’s Center in New York
$300,000 for the Polynesian Voyaging Society in Hawaii
$400,000 for solar parking canopies and plug-in electric stations in Kansas
$727,000 to compensate ranchers in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Michigan whenever endangered wolves eat their cattle      (......ironically-

....the feds are currently funding re-introducing wolves into several western states' wild life food chain, of course-

....while paying cattle ranchers for wolf-consumed gubber-mentall-subsidized cattle)

....gotta luv the

....right up there with that pledge to veto any bill coming across the White House desk containing ear marks....

LMAO... "I don't have an issue with feeding the kids."

I don't either and maybe the school meals aren't all that... maybe until Michelle O does the cooking...Hmmmm

My problem is why is there two programs fully funded to do the same thing... I just put it out as perhaps the FOODSTAMPS need adjusted in households that get those meals from the school system. Someone has to learn how to SAVE a buck before they spend $2. I ain't seeing it, on SOOOOOO many levels.

I loved PB&J "sangwiches" that my Mom packed...and she made them with Whole Wheat. Even a fried Egg Sandwich was heaven when my Mother made it.... Throw in an apple or orange with maybe a cookie....How hard is that???? Oh well....

Been to Permanti's. There's some other places out there that do an outstanding job as well. None locally though.
