Biblical Smiblical.... and you may think this doesn't goes BOTH ways? ??? ? All I know about anyone in here is..... by word written and I act on that level. The Forum is a tool that allows ALL of us this privilege. There are parameters established by the moderator and unless they are pushed over.... we are allowed to post.

And no.... no one in the forum actually knows or even met me, that I know of. I do share the same general location as a few of them and have been invited to coffee. The thing is... preception and reality may not be the same.    ;)

And I know I don't REALLY want to know (particularly in the Biblical sense...lol)

I don't have a lot of friends but the ones I do have, want to be....  ;)

That's all that matters.

I forgot about the Grove City one.  Actually had my last sandwich there.  Nice outdoor seating.  Keep bringing them north baby!

Here is another thought.... or two.....

1) Did you ever wonder why they are banning Incadescent Bulbs and forcing us to buy the LED or CFB...and add this to the pot... some Incadescents were still made by AMERICANS which the plants are closing and all the others...... CHINA..... may be LED has a US manufacturer but I can't find one and the cost can be very prohibitive to lower income families.

2) The figures I have seen today is telling me that new apps for unemployment are down.... Hmmmmm the 99'ers are falling off the rolls aren't they? AND... Housing sales are UP ...HMMMMM Here is my take on that.... Prices of HOUSES ( NOT HOMES) are dropping like a lead sinker, so..... with an industry we have now that preys on the misfortunes of others..... I see a lot of future scumlords....buying HOUSES hence only ONE person may be buying or financing multiple HOUSES and filling them with RENTERS or worse yet those who LOST their original home (NOT HOUSE) to foreclosure. There is maybe say....5 HOUSES being owned by ONE buyer so in the end...the SALE of HOUSES mean nothing without more specification.

This kinda reminds me of the Cash For Clunkers BS they tried to feed us.... try pricing the used car market now Bucky.

Now... HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!!!!!

I have bought a number of curlycue fluorescent bulbs. They work but they don't seem to last nearly as long as the incandescent bulbs where the bulbs are frequently turned on and off. We have some motion sensitive LED night lights that seem to work fine. LED bulbs have dropped a lot in price and are probably more affordable than the fluorescents given the fluorescents short life span (don't get me started on the mercury of them either) They also have a much whiter, purer colored light to.

If LED's keep getting cheaper and have the life span promised they will probably be cheaper in the long run than incandescents are. That being said, the idea of coughing up $30 or a light bulb still makes me wince,

But don't you find it STRANGE the CFB and possibly some of the LED,are NOT made here in our country, yet we are ORDERED to use them in place of the incandescents which are made here? ??? Something smells like 3 dayold fish... :insane:

This reminds me:  We had a 1994 GMC Sierra 4x4 with 402,000 miles on it.  Yes 402K.  Great truck.  It was basically just a farm truck the last 5 years we had it. (Just sold it on Craigslist a few months ago for $1500......the guy was tickled because he had one just like it and now he and his wife would have matching trucks lol!)  Anyway, that big, old, gas-guzzling hog/barge of a vehicle did not qualify for the cash for clunkers program.  I mean, wtf did if that thing didn't?

Click here for a search of led bulbs made in the USA. They probably aren't ALL made in the US. I can't speak for the component parts though. The CF bulbs to me aren't worth the money given their lifespan versus the cost. I have not purchased a full fledged LED bulb yet but I'm thinking about it. Just one to try them out. I have experience with small configuration bulbs up to 6 LED's.  I want to try something that will fully replace a standard bulb.

I don't know why the CF bulbs aren't made here but I suspect it has something to do with environmental regulations.

For a list of US made products click here. You may already know about this site (or not) I't really a shopping site, but they only carry Us made products.

LED bulbs are a cold light. CFS's too. Don't care for their quality of light myself. I imagine that's what the sun would be like from far far away.

But I'm weird like that.

Do the math.

3 x 75 watt incandescent bulbs x 5 hours use a day x times a town of 20,000 people each useing 3 bulbs = 22,500,000 watts per day, or 22.5 megawatts.
Compare that to a CF useing 20 watts per. bulb, which would be 6,000,000 watts, or 6 megawatts, and projected to last 2400 days at that useage.

The tire to power plant proposed for CL is rated at 90 MW costing $337M.

The GE energy star 75 watt buld I just purchased for $2.80 per,  have 12,000 hour rated life with a warrenty. vs 750 hrs for a standard bulb.

Again.... A CF made in the USA???? Didn't we make LONG Clourescents here??? I know the cost difference and the use. I have the Curly bulbs in my house but I also have small based Incan based lamps and wonder about them as well. I have touch lamps and 3 ways....

I find that after the CF "warms" up they do work. LOL and how do you think the NEW Easy Bake Ovens are going to work..I recall they bake with incans. This whole situation reeks of unthoughtabout legislation, such as a LAW in place to outlaw the older toilets for the lower volumn ones. Created an underground market over the US-Canadian line LOL... I like the WAAAWOOOOSH of my 100 year old toilet. It is reassuring, as oppose to the shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh of the new ones...where you have to recheck to see if yesterdays dinner is on it's way.... LOL.

Our house was built in 1987 and has lots of tubes everywhere. I tent to go for lights that put out a minimum 6000K to get the full spectrum. Aquarium bulbs that run at 10000k are the best but many require a special ballast (usually 100w) to get them started. They are also cost prohibitive to run unless you've got the money. I've seen kitchens and bathrooms outfitted that way and they are bright and cheery to say the least.
