The Royal Wedding
« on: April 28, 2011, 07:29:51 PM »
Am I the only one alive who is becoming downright nauseated with this?  The stuff they are covering is hysterical!  Now I will admit that I found out the bride will hit the top of the church aisle at 0600 and I am going to set my alarm clock 5 minutes early because I do want to see this girls dress.....other than that I could do without this taking over the telly.

Nauseated?  That doesn't even begin to cover it.

That's my view, too.

OK, it's a sweet young couple. But beyond that, who are they that anyone should care? It's bad enough that the world goes ga-ga over news of who brad pitt is sleeping with this week.

But the royals? They are the powerless "rulers" of a second-rate world power. They have earned no power or authority over the people who fund their lavish lifestyle. As the peasant woman said to Arthur, King of the Britains, in Month Python and the Holy Grail:
King Arthur: I am your king.
Woman: Well I didn't vote for you.
King Arthur: You don't vote for kings.
Woman: Well ow'd you become king then? [/]

I thought it was lovely!  I have to say, I am a "closet Anglican" at heart; I think the Book of Common Prayer has the most beautiful wording for the marriage service. Good homily, good readings and my favorite English hymn, Jerusalem by C. Parry.
It is fun to see other people spend big bucks!

It was cute the first time, not too bad the second time, but I really don't need to see it over and over and over again....I'm still trying to figure out how Billy will be King....shouldn't Chuck have first crack at it? And how come Phil is only a Prince if he's married to the Queen? Or are they just foolin' around?

I watched some of the replay. I thought it was pretty cool, and especially liked the household guard with the horses escorting the carriage.
Kinda like the charge of the light brigade.

I noticed a lot of swaying in the little I watched. I wonder if Britain is overpopulated and in danger of tipping.

I watched a bit of it.  Get up at 5 anyway, lol.  Wanted to see the dress.  Thought it was lovely as well.  My problem is the nonstop hype before.....for like weeks!  And now the nonstop (and I mean nonstop) analysis....of the hats, of the people, of freaking everything.

Charles is next in line.  Then William.  I heard this morning Charles has waited the longest ever to take the throne.  59 years now.  Queens mum lived to be 101.  Quuen E is now 85 and supposedly in very good health.  It will be quite a long time before Will and Kate take the throne.

I'd rather be little bro Harry.  All the perks but still get to have a bit of a choice in life.

Oh goodness listen to me.......
