For some reason it seems that the idea to renovate that alley came from Allegheny, or from the same sub-group of AC that funded/created the PennDOT wall.... but that it started a long time ago, in the last century. But I could be mistaken. ... ...

My question is what is going to happen to all the garbage containers that the restaurants on that block of chestnut use? And the exhaust vents from the kitchen that blow right out into the alley wonder what they are going to do about these? This alley has been dead for many many years now and another few would not make any difference. Even though it was so called grant money, and we all know how grant money works, they should have taken that money and used it where it was needed the most, the STREETS....Look out residence of the City of Meadville, your taxes will be going up AGAIN once they do the budget... So glad I live in West Mead Twp...

Can anyone show me proof that there are cameras on the Smock Bridge.  My husband and I are in the middle of a bet/discussion about it.  He says not so - can't see it anywhere.  I told him that if I heard it from this group it must be true.  Anyone have any pictures?

I havent seen any cameras...I have seen the speed detector mounted on the pole in the center....maybe the second or third as you cross the bridge coming into town....I don't think that device records pictures....

i think everyone is simply talking about the speed detectors often seen at the beginning of work zones or in problem speeding areas. They're a radar gun with an informational flashing sign showing your speed.

While there might be a way for the machine to capture and average out speed data for statistical purposes, there is no camera involved. This isn't to say, however, that there wouldn't be a cop around the next corner with a radar gun of his own to nail people who didn't get the message from the sign.
